It is Clergy Appreciation Month!

The month of October is set aside annually to intentionally honor pastors. While I believe we should appreciate our church leaders year-round, I am glad this month is a time for you to show recognition for clergy.

Your pastor probably does more than you will ever know or see. The early mornings spent beside a hospital bed with a patient before surgery and the late nights preparing for Sunday sermons are just a few things that are part of every pastor’s daily bread that go unseen by most. The past few years have been especially challenging for our pastors. I invite you to thank them. It will make a difference in their lives.

Bishop Cynthia Fierro Harvey has named Brant Mills as the Director of Communications of the Texas Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church effective October 1, 2023. Mills is no stranger to the Texas Conference having served from 2006 to 2020 as web content manager and associate director of media.

“His knowledge of the Conference and his commitment to The United Methodist Church make him the perfect leader of this important ministry,” said Bishop Harvey. As chief storyteller and strategic messenger of the mission, Mills will provide leadership in establishing and amplifying the narrative of The United Methodist witness throughout the Texas Conference.
