Браття, оправдані ж вірою ми маємо мир з Богом через Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, через якого ми вірою
одержали доступ до тієї ласки, що в пій стоїмо і хвалимося надією на славу Божу. Та й не тільки це, але ми
хвалимось і в утисках, знаючи, що утиск виробляє терпеливість, терпеливість - досвід, а досвід - надію.
Надія ж не засоромить, бо любов до Бога влита в серця наші Святим Духом, що нам даний. Христос бо, тоді як
ми були ще безсилі, у свою пору, помер за безбожних. Воно навряд чи хто за праведника вмирає; бо за доброго,
може, хтось і відважився б умерти. Бог же показує свою до нас любов тим, що Христос умер за нас, коли ми ще
були грішниками. Отож, тим більш тепер, оправдані його кров’ю, ми спасемося ним від гніву. Бо коли, бувши
ворогами, ми примирилися з Богом смертю його Сина, то тим більше тепер, примирившися, спасемося його
життям.

спроможен добавити до свого віку хоч один лікоть? І про одежу чого вам клопотатись? Гляньте на польові
лілеї, як ростуть вони: не працюють і не прядуть. То я кажу вам, що й Соломон у всій своїй славі не вдягався
так, як одна з них. І коли зілля польове, яке сьогодні є, а завтра викидають його до печі, Бог так одягає, то чи не
багато більше вас, маловірні? Отож не турбуйтеся, промовлявши: Що будемо їсти, що пити й у що
зодягнемося? Про все те побиваються погани. Отець же ваш небесний знає, що вам усе це потрібне. Шукайте
перше Царство Боже та його справедливість, а там все докладеться.

Troparion (2): When You went down to death, O Life Immortal, You struck Hades dead with the blazing light of Your
divinity. When You raised the dead from the nether world, all the powers of heaven cried out: O Giver of life, Christ
our God, glory be to You!
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

Kontakion (2): You rose from the tomb, O Almighty Savior, and Hades, seeing this wonder, was stricken with fear;

чужинців відбивали. Жінки діставали назад своїх померлих, які воскресали. Інші загинули в муках, відкинувши
визволення, щоб осягнути ліпше воскресіння. Інші наруг і бичів зазнали та ще й кайданів і в’язниці; їх
каменовано, розрізувано пилою, брано на допити; вони вмирали, мечем забиті; тинялися в овечих та козячих
шкурах, збідовані, гноблені, кривджені; вони, яких світ був невартий, блукали пустинями, горами, печерами та
земними вертепами. І всі вони, дарма що мали добре засвідчення вірою, не одержали обіцяного; бо Бог зберіг
нам щось краще, щоб вони не без нас осягли досконалість.
Тому і ми, маючи навколо себе таку велику хмару свідків, відкиньмо всякий тягар і гріх, що так легко обмотує,
і біжімо витривало до змагання, що призначене нам, вдивляючися пильно в Ісуса, засновника й завершителя
віри, який замість радости, що перед ним була» витерпів хрест, на сором не звертаючи уваги, і який возсів
праворуч Божого престолу.

Brethren: All saints, who by faith conquered kingdoms, did what was righteous, obtained the promises; they closed the

strong in battle, and turned back foreign invaders. Women received back their dead through resurrection. Some were
tortured and would not accept deliverance, in order to obtain a better resurrection. Others endured mockery, scourging,
even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, sawed in two, put to death at sword’s point; they went about in skins
of sheep or goats, needy, afflicted, tormented. The world was not worthy of them. They wandered about in deserts and
on mountains, in caves and in crevices in the earth. Yet all these, though approved because of the faith, did not receive
what had been promised. God had foreseen something better for us, so that without us they should not be made perfect.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us rid ourselves of every burden and sin that
clings to us and persevere in running the race that lies before us while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the leader and

Останнього ж великого дня свята стояв Ісус і закликав на ввесь голос: “Коли спраглий хтось, нехай прийде до
мене і п’є! Хто вірує в мене, як Писання каже, то ріки води живої з нутра його потечуть!”
Так він про Духа казав, що його мали прийняти ті, які увірували в нього. Не прийшов був ще Дух Святий, бо
Ісус не був ще прославлений.
Численні ж з народу, вчувши ті слова, казали: “Він - Христос.” Ще інші: “Чи з Галилеї Христос прийде? Хіба в
Писанні не сказано, що з роду Давидового Христос прийде з села Вифлеєму, звідки був Давид?” І роздор виник
із-за нього серед народу. Бажали схопити його деякі, та ніхто не наклав рук на нього.
Повернулись, отже, слуги до первосвящеників та фарисеїв, а ті питають їх: “Чому не привели його?” Слуги ж
відказують: “Ніколи чоловік не говорив так, як цей чоловік говорить.” Фарисеї ж: “Чи й не ви дали себе звести?
Невже хтось із старшини або фарисеїв увірував у нього? Та проклятий той народ, що закону не знає!” Але
озвавсь до них Никодим, що приходив до нього вночі, а був уже один з них: “Чи дозволяє наш закон
засуджувати чоловіка, не вислухавши його спершу та й не довідавшися, що він робить?” Ті ж йому: “Чи і ти з
Галилеї? Розвідайся, то й побачиш: з Галилеї пророк не приходить.”
Подавсь Ісус на Оливну гору. Та вдосвіта знову прибув до храму, й усі люди посходились до нього; він же,
сівши, навчав їх. І привели тоді книжники і фарисеї до нього жінку, спійману на перелюбі, поставили її
посередині, і кажуть до нього: “Учителю, жінку оцю спіймано саме на перелюбнім вчинку. Каменувати отаких
приписав нам Мойсей у законі. Що ж ти на те?” Іспитували вони його, казавши так, - щоб мати чим оскаржити
його. А Ісус нахилився додолу і писав пальцем по землі. А що вони наполягали та допитували в нього, то він
підвівсь і каже до них: “Хто з вас без гріха, - нехай перший кидає камінь!” І знову нахилившись, писав по
землі. Почувши такс, почали вони виходити один по одному, почавши з щонайстарших аж до останніх. І
залишилися тільки Ісус та жінка, що стояла посередині. Підвівсь Ісус, а нікого, крім жінки, не побачивши,
мовить до неї: “Де ж вони, жінко, оті твої обвинувачі? Ніхто не осудив тебе?” “Ніхто, Господи,” - тихо
відповіла. Тоді Ісус до неї: “То я тебе не осуджую. Йди та вже від нині не гріши.”
І ще промовляв до них Ісус, і так їм казав: “Я - світло світу. Хто йде за мною, не блукатиме у темряві, а матиме
світло життя.”
Достойно:
Величай, душе моя, в трьох Особах єдине Божество!
Ірмос: Радуйся, Царице, славо дів і матерів! Найшляхетніші і найкрасномовніші уста не можуть насмілитись,
щоб Тебе достойно оспівати, ані жаден розум неспроможен збагнути Твоє народження. Тому ми однозгідно
Тебе славимо.

In those days, when the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came
from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to
them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy Spirit
and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. Now there were devout Jews from
every nation under heaven staying in Jerusalem. At this sound, they gathered in a large crowd, but they were confused
because each one heard them speaking in his own language. They were astounded, and in amazement they asked, “Are
not all these people who are speaking Galileans? Then how does each of us hear them in his own native language? We
are Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and
Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya near Cyrene, as well as travelers from Rome, both Jews and converts to
Judaism, Cretans and Arabs, yet we hear them speaking in our own tongues the mighty acts of God.”

On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and exclaimed, “Let anyone who thirsts come to me and drink.
Whoever believes in me, as scripture says: ‘Rivers of living water will flow from within him.’” He said this in
reference to the Spirit that those who came to believe in him were to receive. There was, of course, no Spirit yet,
because Jesus had not yet been glorified. Some in the crowd who heard these words said, “This is truly the Prophet.”
Others said, “This is the Messiah.” But others said, “The Messiah will not come from Galilee, will he? Does not
scripture say that the Messiah will be of David's family and come from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?” So
a division occurred in the crowd because of him. Some of them even wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on
him. So the guards went to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, “Why did you not bring him?” The guards
answered, “Never before has anyone spoken like this one.” So the Pharisees answered them, “Have you also been
deceived? Have any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in him? But this crowd, which does not know the law,
is accursed.” Nicodemus, one of their members who had come to him ealier, said to them, “Does our law condemn a
person before it first hears him and finds out what he is doing?” They answered and said to him, “You are not from
Galilee also, are you? Look and see that no prophet arises from Galilee.” Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the
light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
It is truly right… (Or the Hirmos of the Feast):
O my soul, extol the one God having three divine persons.
Hirmos: Hail, O Queen, glory of virgins and mothers. To adequately praise you is beyond the eloquence of the most
cultured tongue. The wonderful manner in which you gave birth to Christ amazes every intelligence. Therefore, with
one accord, we, the faithful, extol you.
Communion Verse:
Your Good Spirit shall lead me into the land of righteousness.
Let not Your Holy Spirit turn away from us; for You love mankind.
