OUR ONLY RECOURSE

“I sought The Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4
The 34th Psalm is a psalm of David. David was a man ANOINTED, but he was also a man chased in some way his whole life. If David was not trying to be killed by his enemies, his own predecessor, King Saul, was trying to kill him. Later in life, it was not as much David’s life that was being sought after, but rather the hurt and grief applied by his rebellious children that were intent on consuming him.
The broken heart of a man is dangerous. It can cause him to be consumed to the point of breaking. It is in that state of brokenness that the spirit of hurt and grief can take over and begin to rule every thought. The difference between David and others who have the same kind of troubles and pain is written in this 34th Psalm. In spite of being pursued and consumed, David writes, “I will bless The Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
Even those of us who proclaim Jesus as Savior can fall prey to the hurts and suffering of this present world. You may be asking yourself this morning why that happens. It is simple, my friend. The devil, your enemy, desires to destroy you (John 10:10). It is in those times that the praise of God is our ONLY RECOURSE.
“O magnify The Lord with me, and let us exalt His Name together.” I know it is hard to praise God when our whole life has been turned upside down, but it is ALL WE HAVE. The emotional cures of man are temporary at best. The pity of friends is only warm in the moment. But the warmth of the Son’s light can and will give us strength even in the midst of the cruelest storms. “O taste and see that He is good.” “The righteous cry, and The Lord hears, and delivers them out of ALL their troubles.”
My friend, if you are going through something this morning that is bigger than you and it has almost pulled you under, I beg you, pick up the Word of God and turn to this 34th Psalm. Read and begin to praise God. Be calm and still in your praise, and begin to feel the RIGHT HAND OF GOD lift your burden and defeat your enemy. Trust in The Lord. Delight yourself in The Lord. Commit your ways unto The Lord, and find rest in The Lord. The praise of God is our ONLY RECOURSE.
That is what Scratchin’ and Diggin’ is all about.

THE SHORTEST MESSAGE
“Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly, and said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me. Out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas, and the floods compassed me about. All thy billows and thy waves passed over me. Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
The waters compassed me about, even to the soul. The depth closed me round about. The weeds were wrapped about my head. I went down to the bottoms of the mountains. The earth with her bars was about me forever, yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O Lord my God.
When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord, and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.
And the Lord spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land. And the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the second time, saying, Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. So Jonah arose and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord. And Jonah began to enter into the city a day’s journey, and he cried and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.” Jonah 2:1–10; 3:1–3a, 4
The Word of The Lord can be difficult to share, especially if you feel it will not be received well, or in Jonah’s case, you feel the intended recipient is not worthy.
Today’s message is short, just like the one Jonah was compelled to share. We are not speaking to lost folks this morning, but to the redeemed.
“If you have Jesus Christ in your heart, SHARE HIM WITH A LOST AND DYING WORLD!!!” Is anything more important? Do not be like Jonah. Do not run from THE WORK OF GOD. Run to it.
Keep Scratchin’ and Diggin’!
Postscript: Nineveh heard THE MESSAGE and did repent. So just share THE MESSAGE and allow God to do the rest. (Matthew 12:38–41) (Luke 11:29–32)

WHEN I CONSIDER
“O LORD our Lord, how excellent is Thy Name in all the earth!” Psalm 8:9

When I consider my God,I put all that I am in His Hands.
When I consider my God,I begin to proclaim Him throughout the lands.
When I consider my Lord,my Rock, my High Tower.
When I consider my Lord,I fret not any hour.
When I consider His Ways, trusted, tried, and perfect.
When I consider His Ways, they demand to be worshiped.
When I consider His Word, I see a Love Letter.
When I consider His Word, to me there is none better.
When I consider my strength,it is His Might I do see.
When I consider my strength,it is His Spirit that rests upon me.
When I consider my hope,I see an empty grave.
When I consider my hope,it is His presence I do crave.
When I consider His Place,I see it high beyond the veil.
When I consider His Place,I see perfection that shall never fail.
When I consider His Plan,I see you and me.
When I consider His Plan,I see His desire that men be free.
When you consider God and all His Glory, who or what do you see?

NO REGRETS
“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.” Isaiah 43:18
Thinking about life in general this morning compels me to say, “Live out your life without regret!”
So many times we get so busy and complacent that we forget what is really important. We rush around and forget all sorts of things. We forget dates, we forget appointments, we forget to put money in the bank to pay a bill, but more importantly, we forget to stop for just a moment and truly love each other. If we knew today was our last day on this side of Heaven, how would we go about living today? Would we hug a little tighter? Would we tell each other we love them in a way that lets them know without doubt that true love really lives within us? Or would we leave this old world with regret?
My friends, our example for TRUE LOVE without regret was born of a virgin, birthed in a manger, and gave all on an Old Rugged Cross so that we might go free. Without regret, Jesus stretched out His arms and laid down His life, telling the whole world, “I LOVE YOU THIS MUCH!”
Today, START TODAY! Have no regret. Tell someone you love them. Look into their eyes, knowing without doubt that they believe you. Hold them just a little tighter before they go out the door. Do not let the events of yesterday or the toil of the day ahead produce regret in your life. Live this day like it is your last!
“Life, love, and all the goodness thereof is a gift from God. Make the most of it!” DPM

TEMPTATION OF MAN

“But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.”
James 1:14

In careful effort not to damage This Verse I’m going to separate It into 3 pieces.
First is this,,, “Every man is tempted.” The strongest argument for the first portion of this Verse is the temptation of Jesus Himself in Luke Chapter 4. After His baptism Jesus was led/driven into the wilderness by The Holy Ghost. For 40 days and nights He Fasted and Prayed while being tempted of the devil. We must remember that Jesus was every bit God, but He was also flesh. He felt pain as we do, He felt hunger as we do, He felt sadness and grief as we do. Paul Wrote , “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin."Hebrews 4:15. Our Lord and Savior combated the wiles and temptations of the devil with The Written Word Itself !!!,,, which brings us to the second part of Our Verse,,, “Drawn away of our own lust”.
The way the devil draws men into sin is not by force, but by the offering of that which our flesh seems to want. The devil is NOT omnipotent but he is observant !,,, he sees the slant of the eye in casual glance !, he hears to growl of the belly !, that’s when he dangles the proverbial carrot in front of our desire !!! Where would we be if our Jesus would have turned that stone into bread because He was hungry after 40 days in need ?, where would we be if our Jesus would of fell down before the devil when offered the power of the earth ?, where would we be if our Jesus would of cast himself down from the pinnacle of the temple to find rest for His weary flesh ?!? I Praise God for my Masters example of suffering this morning !, and that He shows us how to keep from being drawn away !, the only way is to have The Word of God hid in our hearts and upon our lips and we will not sin against God !!!

Now for the 3rd part “And enticed”. You may feel this part coincides with the second and I’ll not argue that. But if you look at this last portion of This Verse in Its entirety as It is written “AND” enticed , It yields Its Definition ,,, the word “AND” makes us to know it is an attack that happens again , AND again, AND again !!! My friend if you hold tight your Blood Bought status you will be enticed by the devil over AND over again !!! The great apostle Paul was attacked himself in his body and The Word of God lets us know it was severe to say the least. But Looking down from The Right Hand of The Father Jesus comforted the body and soul of Paul Saying “MY Grace is sufficient for thee, for MY Strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2Corinthians 12).
My friends I’m so thankful for The Example of our Savior !, and of the knowing that His Words yields to us, that in this weakened state of the flesh THAT WE CAN strive for perfection in spite of the wiles of the devil !!! If we are to obtain The Crown of His Righteousness we MUST become and remain a student of The Word while fighting EVERY battle upon our knees through The Baptism and Strength of The Holy Ghost !!! Remember also,,, there will be times when others become damaged or hurt badly in Spiritual Battles and it is our duty as Soldiers in The Army of Christ to shield them in their time of need and stand in the gap until they recover from their wounds !!! (Galatians 6:1-2, 6:10). Again our Example in the standing for others is none other than Jesus !!! Jesus stood in the gap for all flesh on a hill called Calvary and Cried out “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”. When we were weak He was strong !, yes Jesus loves us, yes Jesus loves us , yes Jesus loves us The Bible Tells us so !!! Stand on That Love !, stand on The Assurance of The Word of God and all will be well with your soul !!!

TIME, and time again:
“And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.” Luke 9:59
Jesus asks a man, “Follow Me,” but the man replied, “I’m busy.”
The first thing you thought of when you read that was, “That’s not what he said!” The man said, “First let me go and bury my father,” which was important, right? Of course, none of us would argue with a man who wishes to attend to his father’s burial.
But if Jesus had simply given this man leave to attend to this important task, what would have been his excuse tomorrow?
Think on that strongly as you reflect on the busyness of your own life. When Jesus pricks our hearts to read and study His Word, do we do it, or give ample excuse? When our hearts compel us to fast and pray, do we turn aside from life’s “need to’s” and obey, or do we say we will do it later? When the Holy Ghost reaches for our soul to give us the gifts of God, do we push back and say we will reach out tomorrow when it is more convenient, or do we fall on our faces and say, “Fill me, Lord”?
Let’s put it dirt road level for you. How many times will you invite a friend to have lunch if every time you ask they say they are busy?
My friend, nothing is more important or more needful than to follow God. Nothing can trump the urgency to race after the things of God. You may feel what I write here is misunderstood, that I could not possibly understand your busy life. I am a man just like you. I understand the fast paced life that now possesses this world. I also understand the need to take care of the things God has given. But I also know that those same things can be made an excuse and a stumbling block in our following of God.
The Word of God gives us an example of things that have a hold over us. It says that things and desires consume us, and if they do, we should pluck those things out and cast them away, for it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish than that your whole body should be cast into hell. That has always seemed so harsh to me, but it is truth.
The Word of God is saying we should never allow people, things, time, or the lack of it to cause us to turn aside from following God. Again, dirt road level: if we put off obedience to God, are we promised tomorrow to regain the ground we lost in pursuit of our wants and desires? How many times have you put off today, never to find that tomorrow to regain what was lost?
Our todays that we put off may never be given a tomorrow, for our today, which is this present moment, is a v***r that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
Cast off the busyness of this world to follow Jesus. If we do, we will lose the worldly but gain that eternal weight of glory.

WATER IN DRY PLACES
“When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue fails for thirst, I the LORD will hear them; I the God of Israel will not forsake them. I will open rivers in high places and fountains in the midst of the valleys. I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.” Isaiah 41:17-18
As I read from Isaiah this morning, I begin to think of a young boy named Joseph. Joseph was a favored son, wrapped in the coat of his father and protected by his father’s loving embrace. Joseph had never known the heavy hand of cruelty, nor had the well of his father ever been dry, but that would soon change.
Because of the jealousy and hatred of Joseph’s brothers, he found himself in a place that was dry and cold. The worst part was being separated from his father. At the hands of passing merchants, Joseph was taken from that cold, dry place, not delivered but sold as a slave into Egypt, a place far from his father and the WELL OF WATER he had grown to love. Heartbroken from separation and physically broken by slavery and imprisonment, I can hear Joseph’s soul say, “It’s got to get better than this!” I read on as Joseph’s dilemma worsened, and I come to those words which breathe hope into my soul for Joseph, which say, “The Lord was with Joseph.”
There came a day when, by the GIFTS OF GOD, Joseph was delivered from prison and made second in command over all of Egypt. The Word of God says he wore the royal garments of the king of Egypt, he wore Egypt’s ring, and even rode in a chariot, having complete command over all the affairs of Egypt. Yet I still hear Joseph’s soul say, “It’s got to get better than this!”
I have heard Joseph’s story preached my whole life as a testimony of the blessing that came to Joseph in the land of his affliction, but the soul of Joseph cries out to me that it had to get better. How was Joseph’s situation to get any better? He was second in command of the richest nation of the day. The answer is in the voice of his soul, “It had to get better than this!”
You see, Joseph knew what it was like to be loved by THE FATHER. He knew what it was to be clothed in the ROBES OF REDEMPTION, and he knew the taste of TRUE LIVING WATER. Yet he had found himself in the wrong country, wearing the wrong robe and drawing water from a well that was not his FATHER’S.
How many this morning are content to drink from the wells of this world and wear the robes of mammon? There is something much better. Money and power can yield momentary satisfaction, but can those things give us that ETERNAL WEIGHT OF GLORY?
My friend, GOD THE FATHER loved us enough to give ROBES OF RIGHTEOUSNESS by the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ. And from Jesus is given a WELL OF WATER that whoever drinks of that water shall never thirst again. Joseph could have become consumed by the power and wealth of Egypt and even considered it a blessing from heaven, but Joseph had known THE LOVE OF THE FATHER. When he found himself in thirst, his only desire was to drink from THE WELL OF HIS FATHER and be clothed in his FATHER’S ROBES OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.
My friend, when we find ourselves in need, the wealth of this world is not the answer. The only answer to complete and eternal security is Jesus Christ, THE GIFT OF THE FATHER, THE ROBE OF REDEMPTION, THE WELL OF SALVATION. Jesus is the only way things get better.

THE WORK OF MAN
“What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?” Ecclesiastes 1:3
The Preacher asketh, “What profit hath a man of all his labour?” To this question I give a statement, not an answer: “Mine eyes have seen enough of what men can do!!!”
In this hour our souls should be purified by Blood and our eyes fixed on those eastern skies. Our hearts should be found yearning for The Coming of The Son, yet men strive for the higher place of earthly wisdom and serve the creature more than The Creator. “I’ve seen quite enough of what men can do!!!”
The height of earthly knowledge will never be enough for the man who feels himself a conqueror of knowledge; he will then turn to the conquering of others. For with wealth of knowledge comes dominion, and with dominion comes vain glory, and vain glory leads to men making themselves kings over others. “I’ve seen enough of what men can do!!!”
I’ve witnessed the redeemed suffer pain, while the important men of this world pass by unmoved by the plight of their fellow man. I’ve seen the small of this world crushed under the pursuit and desire of so called wealthy men, and again my soul screams, “I’ve seen quite enough of what men can do!!!”
With each passing day I grow weary of the modern while looking and longing for The Eternal. My soul doth yearn to see and proclaim what my God hath done, because “I’ve seen enough of what men can do!!!”
At His appearing, no amount of earthly invention, man made knowledge, or intervention will be able to prevent what will then take place. The earth shall scream as it is torn open in every direction, giving up the bodies of the saints of old. No man made device or decree will be able to give answer to the chaos that will be, as pilotless planes fall out of the skies and driverless cars all at once turn this planet from order as we know it to mass destruction. There will be those who only a millisecond prior held control over the weight of ships and buildings and now have disappeared, leaving that weight to plummet to the ground. Husbandless wives will cry out in disbelief. A mother will scream as a child disappears out of her arms. The shouts and cries of earthly conquerors will cause an already trembling earth to gaze upon them in horror and disbelief. Money will be useless. Man will turn on man like never before. No man, regardless of knowledge or status, will be safe from the heinous aggression of others to survive, and death will be desired more than life.
The heart that I now possess wishes that none of this ever had to happen, that no man suffer or endure grief, but my KING has also seen enough of what men can do. And His longsuffering is soon to come to a close, just as it did in the days of Noah. May The Creator of all things have Mercy on man, as He is soon to show the kings of this world WHAT HE CAN DO. (Jeremiah 9:23–24)

WHO IS THE KING OF GLORY
“The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.”
Psalm 24
We say we serve The Lord but do we truly realize Who He is ??? He tells us plainly He Is Alpha and Omega, The Beginning and Ending, The One Who Was, Is and is to come !, but do we really grasp The Magnitude of the omnipotence we proclaim ???
The Lord always was and He always will be !, and His beginning of Creation is The Word we proclaim as our Testimony (Rev.3:14) !!! Our Testimony of servitude is of The Word which gave life to creation !!! That Word is The Son !, The Gift !, The Sacrifice which Proclaims Himself as The Amen ,The Faithful and True Witness !!!
The Eternal Glory we declare as King Is All, and is all possessing !, even That Eternal Weight of Glory we profess as our Heavenly Home is His and was created by Him!
In The Writing of This Psalm David succeeds (in my heart anyway) in proclaiming The Lord as KING of everything from the least to the greatest of creations !, EVEN THE GATES AND DOORS OF HEAVEN ITSELF !!! And I ask you again !, “Do we truly know Who and how big our Lord is !?!” David demands that Gods Eternal Creation lift its head because his KING !, because his KING is coming in !!! And even David’s soul doth ask “Who is The King of Glory ?”
Even the redeemed soul finds it hard to grasp the magnitude of The Creator of all things !, even the man who professes God as deliverer many times can not wrap his mind around The Strength and Might of An All Knowing ,All Seeing Creator and Conquerer !!!
Again !, Who is The King of Glory ???
He Is That He Is !, He is The One That Spoke into the emptiness of the cosmos and formed the heavens and proclaimed that it was good and right because He Is Good !, and He is Righteous !!! He molded and separated the seas and the dry land , He formed and pushed mountains into perfect placement with only the sound of His Voice !, That same Voice can cause all that we know to tremble, or be heard as a whisper even in the midst of a great wind, a fire or the quaking of the earth !!!
“Who is This King of Glory ?”
Our God !, our King is passion and compassion !, for with His Word He could of formed mankind yet on the final day of His Labors He reached down taking a handful of dust and clay formed you and I and breathed His Breath upon us and caused our souls to take into itself LIFE ! Our God !, our King !, looking upon us, even in sin , Loved us !, so much so that He Gave The Word of His creation to the world as The Ultimate Sacrifice to wash us clean by His Blood! So Who is This King of Glory? He Is All Things and possesses all things and still He allows us to identify with Him as our Savior ,our Lord , our King , our God! When David , a king himself, writes “the earth and its fullness is The LORDS” does it shake your soul or is it just words? When David demands that The Battlements of Heaven give homage to THE KING OF GLORY does it move us to fall on our face as well , or do we just read the words and wonder at their meaning?!
Instead of wondering at their meaning let us ask What or Who would compel a king such as David to wrought words like unto these!
With tears I ask?
“WHO IS YOUR KING? WHO IS YOUR KING OF GLORY?“ !
HE IS !,from being to eternal !, from The Spoken of all, to The Opening of The Books !, and then forevermore !!!
He is The King of creation , even unto Salvation, and upon Him do I wait!
