Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound…
Grace — The unmerited favor of God extended to undeserving humanity through the life, death, resurrection, ascension, and present ministry of Jesus Christ.
Grace is not God ignoring sin, nor is it God lowering His holy standard.
God is infinitely holy! His eyes are too pure to behold evil (Habakkuk 1:13).
Yet, all have sinned and come short of His glory (Romans 3:23). All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way (Isaiah 53:6).
Grace is not God ignoring our sin; it is God dealing with our sin through Jesus Christ!
God sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh (Romans 8:3).
The Many Facets of Amazing Grace
* Saving Grace — By grace we are saved through faith, not by our works. (Ephesians 2:8–9)
* Standing Grace — Justified by faith, we have peace with God, access into His grace, and rejoice in hope of His glory. (Romans 5:1–2)
* Sanctifying Grace — Grace teaches us to deny ungodliness and live godly lives. (Titus 2:11–12)
* Strengthening Grace — His grace is sufficient, and His strength is made perfect in our weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9)
* Serving Grace — We labor for Him, yet it is His grace working in and through us. (1 Corinthians 15:10)
Amazing Grace! It does more than save us from our past. It sustains us in the present, transforms us into His likeness, and empowers us for His service.
“But by the grace of God I am what I am.” — 1 Corinthians 15:10 (KJV)
