I was in town yesterday with my sister. We talked a great deal about brokenness. Broken individuals who are wandering, confused, unforgiving, depressed, some carrying childhood pain that is debilitating and destroying one’s daily activities. The list was long!
We ate lunch and while there I noticed a family of three eating. What seemed to be the father, knelt down eye level with his crying little girl, listened, and gave a hug as She wiped her tears! I then noticed the man took his wife and little girls hand gently and blessed the food!
I pondered this throughout the day along with mine and my sisters conversations.
(LOVE AND GENTLENESS starts when they are babies)
What I saw seemed to be a solid, strong family unit. (Built on a firm foundation)
I thought who don’t pray or bless their food, right?
Who doesn’t hear the cry of a child and at least try to understand where the hurt is coming from, right?
Who doesn’t gently take the hand of his wife and smile in conversation, right?
Well to some you might say, “Donna, some do for a show, some do this and fight like hell at home. Some do this out of habit, but it’s not what it appears!”
To me it was a picture of LOVE, Grace, and the family that the Bible teaches.
To love as Christ loves!
Jesus indicated that the greatest commandment is found in Deuteronomy 6:5. “Listen, Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength” (Dt. 6:5) But two verses below, the text says that the parent is to “Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Dt. 6:6-7).
Religious and spiritual instruction begins at home. A pastor or Christian leader of the homes highest calling is not the sermons preached on Sunday mornings. It’s not how many post we put for the world to see. Or messages to our friends encouraging them daily. It is what is going on in your homes. (A Christians FIRST ministry, is the FAMILY) and the instructions that are given to his family/children each day is vital!
(Lord to rewind time for my own children I would change a great deal of busyness and hear them)
Bishop Charles Hanchey said one time, (not word for word)
♥️Strong individuals build strong families.
♥️Strong families build strong churches. Strong churches build strong communities.
♥️Strong communities build strong cities.
♥️Strong cities build strong states.
♥️Strong states build strong governments.
♥️Strong governments build strong nations.
Important question: Ask yourself where is the breakdown in our nation today!
