In Romans 10:9-10 Paul says: “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” It brings great joy to the body of Christ and the heavenly host when one soul comes to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and professes that faith. We also see in the Bible that one of the next steps we are to take in our spiritual journey is to receive the Sacrament of Baptism. Join brother David for a quick devotion from Acts and then, if you want, come out to your sister church Refuge Sunday morning for the baptism of brother Jason and brother Kyle!

What is the difference between saying we have faith and taking action in faith? And what happens when we think and feel one way about something but then take actions that are contrary to those beliefs and emotions? Harmony and peace are found more often when we align the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical aspects of our self in one accord and allow God’s grace to transform us into our most authentic self. Join David today as he looks at harmony and disharmony as it relates to faith and action as revealed in James 2.

Praying everyone is doing well this morning after a long night of wind and rain. The streets are slightly flooded in areas so be careful driving if you need to go out. Be advised we are still under a tornado warning. Please continue to pray for those in the path of the hurricane - especially those in LA who are experiencing the worst of this storm. If you have damage remember we have local UMCOR. May God continue to protect us and keep us! Amen 🙏

Due to tropical storm force winds expected in our area in the morning during our service times and in light of the dangers these conditions might present to drivers, Crossroads has decided to cancel worship services tomorrow Sunday 29th 2021. Please be sure to check around your property and remove any light objects that may become debri from your porches and yards and get whatever supplies you may need as the most recent prediction estimates a very intense storm. May God bless us and keep us in his grace and protect us as Hurricane Ida moves through. Amen 🙏

What happens when we are judging others based on man made standards rather than God's revealed word? NONE - The Mid-Afternoon Prayer
A couple weeks ago in a discussion of prayer David mentioned praying the "Daily" or "Divine" Office. These are set times the church can gather in private or in community to refocus on God throughout one’s day. In this episode David prays the Liturgy for the Mid-Afternoon prayer also known as the "None". This prayer can be found in The Book of Offices and Services of The Order of Saint Luke, of which David is a member. David is wearing the Habit of the Order in this video.

Update on Services From Br. David:

Some have asked about our services this week in view of the rapid spread of the Delta variant of COVID in George County. The short answer is YES we will still be offering both on-site and online services this week. Due to the very high volume of cases in Lucedale alone we are asking everyone to be very proactive in helping to slow the spread of the virus. If you plan to attend services on-site and are at risk we strongly recommend that you wear appropriate personal protective equipment and practice social distancing. If you currently have COVID and are on medication to treat it or have been exposed to someone with the virus please do not risk exposing others. It has been the case that while some experience mild symptoms others have been very adversely affected by the new variant. We will continue to evaluate our gathering policies each week. Thank you all, be safe, and please continue to pray for one another, our community and the rest of the world as we move through this.

With all that is going on in today’s world it's more important than ever to focus on God's faithfulness. The struggles of life are real and we all go through seasons when they get the best of us. In this episode David talks about how the Psalmist in Psalm 111 reveals the secret to how we can go from being in the spiritual slumps to being in a place of authentic enthusiastic praise and thanksgiving as we gather together for worship.
