Join us tonight at 6:30pm for We Aren't Strangers - a small group where we share in a meal and provide a safe place to find community and belonging for all people despite religious identity. This week, we are going to talk about our plan for the semester and then play some games Before we get started, we will share in a home cooked meal. Come by and get to know our group. We look forward to meeting you!
When: Thursday, August 28 at 6:30pm
Where do we meet? Our address is 2407 16th Street. We are located just one block east of campus. Ring the bell at the front door for entry.
Who is invited? Everyone (and we mean everyone!). This is a space where all people can be fed physically, emotionally, and spiritually while at the same time honoring everyone’s faith traditions and gifts and light that we all bring to this community. And we promise that we will not try to convert you or change you. That is not the way we do things here. All we want to do is to know you, love you, and support you as a student here at Texas Tech. Please know that we are LGBTQ+ inclusive and strive to be introvert and neurodivergent friendly.
What is Canterbury Episcopal Campus Ministry? We are an outreach ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Northwest Texas and a student organization at Texas Tech University. We are made up of a small, but diverse, group of students who seek to live our faith in an inclusive and open-minded way. We value sacramental worship, spiritual growth, and biblical faith, and we live these values together through intentional relationships in a supportive community.
What is the Episcopal Church? We Episcopalians believe in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As constituent members of the Anglican Communion in the United States, we are descendants of and partners with the Church of England and the Scottish Episcopal Church, and are part of the third largest group of Christians in the world. We believe in following the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world. We have a legacy of inclusion, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being; women and men serve as bishops, priests, and deacons in our church. Laypeople and clergy cooperate as leaders at all levels of our church. Leadership is a gift from God, and can be expressed by all people in our church, regardless of sexual identity or orientation. We believe that God loves you – no exceptions.
