Adventures in Missions

Adventures in Missions AIM is a two-year missionary apprenticeship for college-age men and women who want to get hands-on experience in missions.

Adventures in Missions is a chance to make a difference in the world. As part of the Sunset International Bible Institute in Lubbock, TX, AIM is an apprentice missions program for college-age young people. Adventures in Missions is a focused effort by and for Christian young men and women to work together to strengthen the church and bring the lost to Christ. AIM begins with the Bible, the one boo

k that explains to us how to be different. We not only study God's word but we also learn how to teach its good news to others. In the end, AIM students are apprentice missionaries learning, growing, and serving on mission fields around the world. AIM is a minimum two year commitment to study and grow and then to go teach and serve. Those who have taken the challenge of being AIM students have seen God transform their lives for him. Often times AIM students return from the mission field with a renewed sense of purpose and understanding of how they fit within the story of God's salvation for humanity. Thus, an AIM experience can be "life changing."

Last night, we had the pleasure of staying in Meridian, Idaho. Linder Road Church of Christ warmly welcomed us with a delicious meal and a fun-filled evening. We enjoyed pizza with the youth group, played a few games, sang songs in worship together, and Cory led a devotional before we departed for our host homes. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Jared McCormick for the warm welcome and for orchestrating all the activities that ensured we had a wonderful time. Thank you to Linder Road Church of Christ for your continued support of our AIMers and for having us for the evening. You all are awesome!!

Grants Pass, Oregon & Tacoma, Washington 🌲⛰️

For the past four days, we’ve been in the Pacific Northwest, enjoying time with Savage Street and Lakeview Church of Christ in Grants Pass, Oregon, and Tacoma, Washington. As our March Madness trip comes to a close, we are so grateful for the incredible people who hosted us in their homes, fed us, and provided transportation.

Although our time in Grants Pass was short, it was incredibly meaningful. We were welcomed with a warm meal and spent the evening in fellowship and singing. Thank you, Savage Street Church of Christ, for such a kind and heartfelt welcome! We left early the next morning for Washington, but not before receiving the sweetest personalized gift bags for each AIMer and admin, complete with favorite candies and handwritten notes.

The next few days in Tacoma were filled with service and quality time. Ethne and Danna, our current AIMers in the field, organized our schedule and led the group throughout the weekend. On Saturday, we split into four groups to serve in different ways: roadside trash cleanup, working in Lakeview’s garden, tree removal, and organizing the clothing barn. Two of Lakeview’s largest ministries are their garden and clothing barn, so helping in those areas was a huge encouragement to the church in Tacoma.

On Sunday morning, we worshiped together and held our final flag ceremony as the AIM class of 2028. We then gathered again that evening for an area-wide singing hosted at Lakeview Church of Christ. On Monday, we enjoyed a fun day in Seattle. AIMers explored shops, markets, museums, aquariums, and, of course, great food! We took the train from Tacoma to Seattle and back, soaking in the beautiful scenery of the Pacific Northwest along the way.

Today, we wrapped up this part of our trip and want to say thank you to Brent, Rachel, Ethne, Danna, our host families, cooks, and everyone who went out of their way to make us feel so welcomed and cared for.

Bakersfield California!🌴

We’ve had a great time in Bakersfield, CA the past few days with our AIMers and the Westside Church of Christ! Thank you to all the people who made this stop possible.

We arrived on Sunday night and were able to spend some quality time with some members of the church, their youth, and college group. We took part in communion together and had dinner before heading to host homes for the week.

Early Monday morning we headed to Union street where many of the unhoused community live and were able to hand out groceries and pray for them. Rick Shaw helped lead and direct us during that time and gave an encouraging talk to the AIMers. Thank you Rick Shaw for all you do! That afternoon a group of AIMers went to Cal State University in Bakersfield and attended a Bible Study led by a college student at Westside Church. The rest of the group door knocked in neighborhoods around the church inviting the community to Easter Sunday services.

On Tuesday we all headed over to ACTIS, a junior high school, in town. Melissa and Patrick, members of Westside work at the school. They helped lead us and split us up into different groups so we could help with what they needed. We had groups working on landscaping, paperwork in the office, library organization, facilitate recess activities, and more! Afterwards when school ended, we all attended their Good News club. We had a few AIMers do a devotional thought and activity for the students.

Wednesday was another day full of service work, but this time at Westside. Thank you to Marshall and Bo for organizing that for us. We had the AIMers split into groups again and do things such as landscaping, organizing, cleaning, painting, and more! That night we had a spaghetti dinner, Wednesday night services, and enjoyed a dessert and fellowship with the Westside family.

Thank you to Westside Church of Christ for the dozens of people who has specific roles to make everything run smoothly. You guys are awesome!
