First United Methodist Church of Lubbock

First United Methodist Church of Lubbock FUMC has a reputation of being a giving church with a long history of purpose and vision. Thus First Methodist Church of Lubbock was born.

Our mission is to create a grace-filled environment in which Jesus Christ transforms lives. Years before our city officially came into being, a small community of only twelve believers was able to dream - and to recognize the need to heed Christ's call for making disciples even in places that showed little promise for the future. We've been a dreaming church now for 120 years. Greater days - and g

reater things - are yet to come. Our vision statement underscores our commitment to our beliefs and faith: God continues to grow us a grace-filled community by bridging our rich heritage with future generations and cultures, leading us into relevant ministry, empowering engaged disciples, and establishing effective outreach. We invite you to come see why we are so passionate about our future. There is a place for you here!

Pastor Shera spoke on forgiveness in yesterday's chapel service.

"We are called as a people of God to be a witness in this world. One of the greatest testimonies to the gospel is a community that forgives. The world, expects retaliation, and the gospel introduces reconciliation."
