Welcome to Alliance Church ONLINE! We're so excited to have you join us! Today we continue going through the book of Acts.

Paul’s ministry hits a nerve when a silversmith named who profits from crafting shrines to the goddess Artemis, realizes the gospel is bad for business. He rallies his fellow craftsmen, warning them that Paul’s message is turning people away from Artemis and threatening their income, sparking a full-blown riot in the city. The chaos only ends when a town clerk steps in and shuts it all down, warning the mob they’re risking serious trouble with Rome. Share today’s message we titled “Beware & Be Aware.”

We are so proud of Alfonso Almeida, who just earned his Doctor of Education in Instructional Technology from Texas Tech!!

♟️And if you did not already know, Alfonso is also a Mexican Chess International Master!!! So yes, he is literally someone who thinks many moves ahead, and it shows. 😉

What makes this even more special is knowing that his mother has been praying over his education and career for years. Those prayers did not go unheard. Today Alfonso got to stand with his family and look back at the road God brought him down, and call it faithful.

“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” Proverbs 16:3

Congratulations, Dr. Almeida. May everything you learned become a blessing in the hands of the One who gave you the gift to learn it.

There was this part in Sunday’s message that was both terrifying and clarifying at the same time! (You can find it in Acts 19:11-17) There were 7 guys who tried to use Jesus’ name to cast out a demon, but they had no real relationship with Jesus. And the demon’s response stopped everyone in their tracks. “I know Jesus, and I recognize Paul, but who are you?” The demon was not confused at all. It knew exactly what was going on. Those men had the name of Jesus on their lips but not in their lives. Read that again. Those men had the name of Jesus on their lips but not in their lives. That is a real gut check moment for all of us. “You cannot borrow authority you have not been given. You cannot wield a name you do not know as a person.” So here’s a question for us: Do the people around us recognize that Jesus is genuinely at work in our lives?

When one door closes, God opens another one! In Acts 19, Paul was teaching boldly in the synagogue for three months and then opposition shut that door hard. Slander, hardened hearts, the whole thing. But Paul did not sit down and give up. He found another room! A lecture hall, in the middle of the afternoon heat, and from that humble little space the Word of God spread to every corner of Asia. That is so encouraging!

Sometimes the door that closes is not a sign that God stopped moving. It is just a redirect. As Pastor Jesse shared yesterday, “Do not confuse institutional resistance with the Word’s failure. When one door closes, the Word finds a window.”

Where in your life right now might God be redirecting you toward a new room instead of an open door?

It’s Maycember!! Can you feel it? If you have never heard that word before, it is basically what happens when May turns into a second December. The graduations, the recitals, the end of school events, the cookouts, the sports, the Mother’s Day plans, the mental load, all of it stacked on top of each other until your calendar looks like it is begging for mercy. It is a real thing and if you are feeling it right now, just know you are not alone.

But here is what we want you to hear in the middle of all of that busyness. You do not have to run on empty. This Wednesday at 6:30pm come take a breather. Come sit down, let God’s word speak to you, encourage you and refill what the week has been draining out of you. And because we know you might also be running on an empty stomach, we have a free home cooked meal waiting for you at 5:30pm in the gym!! Real food, made with love, no drive thru required.

There is a seat at the table for you, your family, your friends and anyone else who needs a midweek reset. Bring them all. The table is big enough.

So as you look at your calendar for this week, go ahead and block out Wednesday at 5:30pm like it is the most important appointment of your week, because honestly it just might be. Put it in your phone, tell someone you are going and make it happen. Rest is not a reward for when you finish everything. It is what keeps you going until you do.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
