“Do not be afraid… for He is risen, as He said.” - Matthew 28:6

The women came expecting a sealed tomb. Instead, they found an empty one. The resurrection is not symbolic language about hope. It is a declaration that death did not hold Him.

Everything we walked through — the betrayal, the trial, the cross — would mean something entirely different if the tomb were not empty. The resurrection confirms that the sacrifice was accepted. The debt was paid. The authority of Christ was vindicated.

Easter is not simply the reversal of tragedy. It is the foundation of Christian faith. If Christ is risen, then sin is defeated, forgiveness is real, and hope is not wishful thinking.

The question is not whether the tomb was empty. The question is what that reality demands of us.

If you are looking for a church in Lubbock to celebrate the resurrection and open Scripture with clarity and conviction, we invite you to join us this Easter at Redbud Baptist Church.

“When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ‘It is finished!’ And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.” - John 19:30

The cross was not an accident of politics. It was the fulfillment of purpose. When Jesus said, “It is finished,” He declared completion. The work required to deal with sin was accomplished.

These words were not resignation; they were resolution. The debt was paid. The sacrifice was sufficient.

Good Friday invites quiet reflection. We often rush past the weight of the cross because we know what comes next. But before celebration, there is cost.

At Redbud Baptist Church in Lubbock, we gather to remember that redemption was not cheap. If you do not have a church home, we invite you to join us as we reflect on the meaning of the cross.

“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” - Luke 23:34

From the cross, Jesus did not speak revenge. He spoke forgiveness.

This does not minimize the injustice of what was happening. It magnifies the purpose. The cross was not simply a tragic ex*****on; it was a willing sacrifice. Even in suffering, He interceded.

Forgiveness at this level challenges our understanding of grace. We struggle to forgive small offenses. Christ extended mercy in the midst of torture.

If forgiveness feels impossible in your life, this moment invites reflection. What does it mean that the One who was wronged most severely chose to forgive?

“Pilate said to Him, ‘What is truth?’” - John 18:38

Standing before Jesus, Pilate asked a question that still echoes today. He was looking at Truth incarnate and treated it as a philosophical concept.

Pilate’s struggle was not lack of information. It was reluctance to act on what he saw. He recognized innocence, yet chose political safety over moral courage.

We often ask for clarity from God, but when clarity comes, do we submit to it? Or do we search for an exit that preserves comfort?

Truth is not just something to consider. It demands a response.

“Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, ‘Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him.’ Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, ‘Greetings, Rabbi!’ and kissed Him.” - Matthew 26:48

Betrayal did not come from an enemy at a distance. It came from someone who walked with Him. Judas knew His patterns, heard His teaching, witnessed His power — and still chose to turn away.

Proximity to truth is not the same as surrender to it.

This passage forces an uncomfortable question: is it possible to look like a follower of Christ while resisting Him internally? Spiritual familiarity can create the illusion of faith without the reality of obedience.

If you are searching for a church in Lubbock that approaches Scripture honestly and without pretense, we invite you to worship with us at Redbud Baptist Church this morning.
