We are a church community on the southern-tip of the Great Plains of North America in the city of Lubbock, Texas. Our parish is composed of all sorts and conditions of people seeking to live out God's call for us to be his servants and witnesses while sharing and celebrating our life together.

Things are looking up! Temporary fixes are holding and the plumbers will be here on Friday. Monday we should get our new air conditioner installed!

However, I'm thinking this might be a BRING-YOUR-FLY-SWATTER-TO-CHURCH Sunday. The doors have been open for a couple of days and we have a lovely crop of new "visitors" in the building.

Regardles, wing-ed beasties are way better than noxious stench. I'll take 'em.

It has been a week! But in the midst of dismay, there have been some fabulous bright spots.

Give thanks for community members who give and give and give, whether it is time, expertise, or funds. You are appreciated!

Give thanks for plumbers who have saved the day. Keep praying for smaller repairs to hold fast until big repairs can be completed in the next couple of days.

Give thanks for local small business people like these guys - New Growth Landscaping. They have been a bright spot this week. They've been at the church for 3 days, taking down a dead tree and trimming the rest. They're doing great work for a fair price and they are friendly and fun, too!
