Pleasing God
(I Thessalonians 4:1)
I’m sure that the above subject may seem to be a small matter to some. But in the scriptures, it stands to be a central issue for those who would seek to know God.
When I first got saved, “PLEASING GOD” was the first thing I wanted to do. I didn’t want to offend or displease the God who brought me out of a life of sin; who snatched me out of a devil’s hell. I was totally convinced that I was a debtor to God’s grace and mercy.
Now, having been blessed beyond measure, I want to please God more than ever before. As I view the lives and actions of others, I often wonder if they ever think about pleasing Jesus at all?
The church services seem to carry no weight with them; their dedication and loyalty seem to be substandard; and the purpose of reaching others with the gospel just does not even cross their minds. With this observation, I ask them: “WHO ARE YOU TRYING TO PLEASE?”
We must all lay hold of this and not be swayed into thinking otherwise. So, let’s examine our lives and our actions and make sure that we are not doing anything to displease God.
(I Thessalonians 4:1) “Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and TO PLEASE GOD, so ye would abound more and more!!"
