The message to the church at Sardis is revealing. They needed a resurrection, not a revival. The call to Awake indicates that a resurrection is in order. O that our churches could see ourselves as the Head of the churches sees us. But the Lord who sent this letter is fully able to do whatever needs to be done in His church. The Seven Churches are a warning to us. The Lord of the churches know each church thoroughly. He assumes authority over each of them, and blesses or judges each one. The Enemy is seeking to corrupt each one of them, and seeks their destruction. What would the Lord say about your church? May our ears be prepared to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches! We read Revelation 1 this morning. It carries with it a promise that those who read it and listen to it will be blessed. I sense the blessing. Our risen Lord is ministering to His churches while they shine in the dark world. At the same time He is ruling over all of the nations on the earth, and they still ignore Him. But He is coming again with great glory and power. His Coming will be the Wakeup call for the whole creation. Amen. Join me in reading Deuteronomy 3, Psalm 85, Isaiah 31, and Revelation 1.

My sister Debbie and my brother Dwight and their spouses are coming to our house today. We will celebrate our Lowrie heritage by eating together, sharing memories, praying, and rejoicing. Orel and Irene left us a rich heritage. What started on a mountianside in East Tennessee has spread around the world. Alice and I have now 47 just in our clan. Psalm 81 shows us something wonderful about our God--He really does want to bless us. He is just waiting for us to open our mouths so He can fill them. Psalm 80 could guide us as we pray for our nation that is celebrating 250 years of statehood. It is a reminder that God had a hand in the founding of our country, just as He did Israel. Though many in our nation deny this, their plans will lead us to destrruction. Our nation needs the Light that comes from the Bible, the Word of God. Our nation needs to humble herself before the One Sovereign God who rules over all nations. we need to come to Him with prayers of confession and thanksgiving. Read this Psalm with a prayer in your heart. Join me in reading Numbers 37, Psalm 80, ISAIAH 28, and 2 John.

Reading 1 John 5 always lifts my spirit, and encourages me. I do want to confess that the Son of God has come in the flesh, and has given Himself as a sacrifice for our sins. And that by His Spirit the Son lives in my heart. And through Him we have understanding, and we are kept from the evil one. That is about as good as it can get. Amen. Psalm 77 was timely for me today. It reminds us of the value of remembering what God has done in us and for us. Working with Sam and Russell on Our Story on You Tube has done my heart good. It will do me more good if you will watch the videos and be a blessing. You will probably not learn how to do things better, but hopefully you will learn that God is real and faithful. Amen. 1John 1 is full of saving truth. The One that John followed as a disciple was God in the flesh. He was a manifestation of the Life that is found in God alone. The thing that keeps us from knowing this Life is sin. And we have all sinned. But through His blood He has made forgiveness and restoration available to all who will humble themselves before God. True confession of sin before God is so important. Amen. Join me in reading Numbers 31, Psalm 75-76, Isaiah 23, and 1 John 1.
