*WISDOM FOR TODAY*
Tues 11th Aug, 2026

*STOP THAT EVIL NOW AND CHANGE YOUR WAYS*
Beloved brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus Christ, welcome to the dawn of another new day, a day that the Lord has given to us as a gift that we may Rejoice and be glad in it. It is God's desire to see us walking in the right paths that will lead us to the fulfilment of our days. Whenever we stray from His presence and go our own way, seeking to satisfy our own evil desires, we provoke God's anger. This morning, the Holy Spirit wants us to change our ways now so that we can be shown mercy, before it is too late.
We read a passage about King Ahab, which we started reading yesterday. King Ahab had desired Naboth's vineyard and wanted to buy it but Naboth refused selling it to Him because it was FAMILY PROPERTY which was handed down to him by His ancestors and so could not be sold. Ahab's wicked wife, Jezebel, masterminded the killing of Naboth and then took over the vineyard and gave it to her husband. The most pathetic part of the evil is that, it was done under the pretext of Fasting and Prayers. Terrible!! When Naboth was killed, Jezebel went home and told his husband to go and get the piece of land and HE HAPPILY WENT TO TAKE IT OVER. See what greed can do to a man who has been blessed by God even with everything. What did Ahab really lack? Was it land? Not at all, for He was the custodian of the Land. It was the spirit of greed, coveteousness and discontentment.
The Lord sent the prophet Elijah to the king, to rebuke Him of His sin and pronounce punishment on Him. He told him that dogs will lick his blood in the same place where they licked Naboth's blood. Ahab repented, put on sackcloth and fasted sincerely and God forgave him and changed the verdict. Since he had humbled himself before the Lord to acknowledge with sorrow his sins and seek mercy, the Lord promised not to bring the disaster in his life time but on his house in the days of his son.
Beloved in Christ, there are many things we can learn from here but I will like us to focus on two of them:

1) Do not sell yourself to do evil. Ahab sold himself to do evil in the sight of the Lord (v 20). It is so sad that so many people today even in the church have sold themselves to do evil. They are negatively influenced by friends and loved ones to commit sin. They may not personally do evil but are the brain and strong force behind evil deeds. There are many people in positions of authority who have sold themselves to do evil. They oppress the poor and use their positions and influence to have what they want. They are the reason why innocent people are suffering in prisons. So much innocent blood has been shed and continues to be shed because of their evil manipulations. God's finger is warning you. Repent now before it is too late. Stop that evil and come back to the Lord.

2) Be careful the way you live because you can bring disaster even to generations yet unborn. Ahab's sin was to be punished in the days of his son. See how a generation will have to suffer for sins they did not commit. We must be careful with our actions for they can make or mar the future of our children and those who come after us.
Beloved in Christ, the good news we bring today is that, our God is merciful and compassionate. He is still abounding in steadfast love. He rebukes your sin but he still loves you. He wants to show you mercy. Why do you continue in that sin? Why do you allow the people around you to continue to lure you to sin? Repent now and change your ways. Turn your eyes away from the vanities of this life. Learn to be contented with what you have. Kill that spirit of uncontrollable desire for what is not your own. Stop oppressing the poor and stop using your position to manipulate and unjustly treat the underprivileged. Stop the worship of idols for our God will tolerate no rivals. Turn away from your evil ways and believe in the Lord. Repent and cry to Him for mercy in all sincerity of heart and He will forgive you.
May God hear us as we pray to Him. May He be the one to judge and subdue all those who are using their positions against us and may He bring them all to judgment. May God show us mercy where we have been like Ahab and may His Love continuously abide with us now and always. Amen and Amen

Tues 28th July, 2026
Mtt 5:13-16
*UPHOLD YOUR INTEGRITY AS THE SALT OF THE EARTH AND LIGHT OF THE WORLD*
Beloved brothers and sisters in the Lord, we are blessed to be counted again among the living this morning. The grâce of God has been sufficient in keeping us and bringing us this far. Do you know why God has kept you alive? The only reason is for you to bring Him glory. Yes! That is all. So, I pray that each and everyone of us to find out how to glorify God with our lives.
When a manufacturer produces a product, he prepares it for a particular purpose based on how He has made it. Since the manufacturer is the ine who really understands the abilities of their product and the purpose of it, he now produces a handbook that accompanies the product so that anyone who buys the product can read the handbook and know exactly how to use it and what to use it for. We are all created by God and as scripture says, we are God's masterpiece created to do good works" (Ephes 2:10). Heyyyyy! Did you know that this is how God created you and that He formed you to do good works? This morning, our Bible passage reminds us of who we are and what is expected of us, when Jesus says, "You are the salt of the earth,........ You are the light of the world. Did you hear that? What Our Creator is telling us this morning is that, " I created you to be salt to the earth and to be the light of the world.. " This means that, we were created to bring a positive impact in our societies
We know what salt does. Salt is used for preservation, for taste, for healing, just to name a few. Every child of God is SUPPOSED to preserve the decay of our society. What are we doing in the midst of the high levels of immorality, corruption, greed, selfcentredness, dishonesty, etc, in our community? Are we in anyway helping to preserve the society from decaying more and more or are we promoting the decay? Salt is used in healing wounds, easing constipation, etc. How are we bringing healing or easing the pains of the world? Are we really seeking to heal or to hurt? Just as salt gives taste to food, believers are supposed to give taste to this world which is plagued by so much trouble. How are you giving taste to the members of your family, your community and your society? This morning, this word is challenging us.
We are created to be the light of the world. When light shines, darkness disappears. It is so unfortunate that instead of shining the light, qwqe have often times put off the light. We have sometimes, put our lamps under the table and covered with bowls by compromising our faith. Out of fear sometimes, many people have covered their lights under the table. I ask you this morning, what is covering your light? We shine our light when we refuse to compromise our Christian values even when it will bring us gain. When we refuse to cheat, to take bribes or take advantage of others. When your light shines bright, everyone will see it and what you don't know is that, when men see your light, they give glory to the one who Created you and by so doing, you are living up to standard. By being honest, humble, upright, pure in heart and faithful, we make our light shine.
My dear brothers and sisters, it is sad to say that so many believers have lost their integrity. Some have backslid and are no longer walking in the ways of Christ. They have lost their saltiness and the devil has put off their lights. Some of us have not backslid from church. We are still there but our hearts are far away from God. Some of us now worship God just as a formality. We are being outwardly religious but with no inner essence of saltiness. We still look like believers but are no longer useful in God's sight. Even when salt loses it's saltiness, it still looks white. On the eyes, it still looks the same, but when you taste it, it no longer has any taste. So too it is with many of us. We are still looking like Christians because we are in the church, but we have lost our integrity. There is nothing in us that really makes God happy. You might not be living in sin but you might have compromised spiritual things for physical pleasures and now you are living far below expectations. You are losing your saltiness when you start compromising prayer hours. When you start liking things you used to hate and condemn as worldly. When you start seeing sin differently and trying to sugar coat the sin with different names that make it feel lighter. You are losing your saltiness, when you start celebrating what used to be a taboo.
My brothers and sisters, are you losing your saltiness? Before we get to the point of being thrown and trampled upon, let us return to our master, our Creator. He is our Redeemer, He can redeem us again. Check yourself today. Is your light shining for all to see or have you covered the light with a bowl? I pray that we will all examine our characters and make amends where we have been failing. Live up to expectations by being the salt of the earth and the light of the world, for that is what you were created for. Amen

James 3:1-10
PUT YOUR TONGUE IN CHECK
My dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, we thank God for bringing us to the dawn of another new day. It is by His special grâce that we have been granted this unique privilege to be counted among the Living. The Lord has done it and is worthy of our praises.
Throughout this week, our Bible passages have been encouraging us to strive to overcome the temptations of the flesh as we strive to make heaven at last. This morning, the apostle James, the brother of our Lord, who was writing to encourage believers in His time to remain focused and pay attention even to the little details that mattered, addressed the tongue which is one of the smallest members of our bodies yet one of the Most powerful. Though it occupies only a small space in our mouths, it has the ability to build or destroy, comfort or wound and to glorify God or dishonour Him. Since scriptuere tells us that we shall be judged by every careless word we have spoken (cf Mtt 12:36ff), we must be careful about what we say, when we say it, where wqqe say it, how we say it and why we say it. This is a call for us to put our tongues on check. David understood this and said, "I will guard my ways that I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth with a muzzle as long as the wicked are on my présence (Ps 39:1).
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, put your tongue in check. The apostle James uses simple illustrations in our passage to showw how much control the tongue has, what it is capable of doing and why we must pay attention to this very small part. Just as a horse is controlled just by a small rudder put in its mouth, so too the small tongue has great influence and control. Even though the horse is stronger than it's rider, the little briddle put in its mouth directs it's movement. The tongue is like that briddle. It can direct the way in which your life goes.
Also, a ship as large as it is, is controlled only by a small rudder. In the same way, our wwords often determine the direction of our relationships, our families, our churches and even our witnessing to the world. Finally, James warns that just as a small spark can set a whole forest on fire, so too our tongues are capable of causing great trouble. Just a 'small lie", rumour, a harsh criticism or an angry response can spread like wildfire. As little gossip can cause a misunderstanding that can lead to lasting division and conflict among relations.
Beloved in Christ, how do you use your tongue? It is unfortunate that we use the saame tongues to praise God and use them still to insult, and cause trouble. Some people even boast of how much they can speak and how terrible their words can be. Should we really be proud of misusing our tongues? How can we use the same tongue to praise God and use it to slander and say evilthings against our brothers and sisters?
Put your tongue in check. Before you open your mouth to speak, ask yourself if it is true and even if it is true, find out if it is even necessary. To guard our tongues we must start by limiting our words for scripture says, "where words are many, sin is not lacking" And the writer of the Proverbs says, "whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue, keeps himself out of trouble (prov 21:23).
As you step out today, examine your words before they come out from your lips because when they are out, they cannot be retrieved. Most times, silence is more powerful than words. Words are like toothpaste that has been squeezed out of it's tube, it cannot go back in. May God help us to guard our tongues as we run this race of faith. Put your tongue in check. You must not speak if you should not speak. And if your words qwwill not glorify God, encourage someone than condemn or spread peace than rumours, then don't say them. If you get angry, pause and pray before you say a word. May God guide us and may His spirit help us to put our tongues in check. Amen
Have a blessed weekend.
