Some read Jesus’ words, “Whatever you ask in My name, this I will do” (John 14:13), as mere hyperbole, But Jesus was not exaggerating. The context reveals that His promise is rooted in abiding. To ask in His name is not simply to attach His name to our requests; it is to remain so connected to Him that His desires, purposes, and will shape our own. As we abide, we pray from union with Christ, and the Father is glorified through the Son. The promise is not about using a formula, it is about living in relationship. The more we abide, the more His life flows through us, and the more we see His works accomplished through the power of the Holy Spirit.
