What if the most productive spiritual practices feel like you're barely trying?
For 17 years, I (Pastor Sammy) thought every bike ride had to be all-out intensity. Then I discovered Zone 2 training—it seemed too easy to work. But it transformed my endurance completely. The same is true spiritually.
Sabbath rest. Solitude. Daily Scripture. Prayer. Corporate worship. These disciplines might feel counterintuitive—like you're not doing enough. Your mind will race during silence. Rest will feel unproductive when work is calling. But here's the truth: these "easy" practices build endurance for the long haul.
God modeled Sabbath rest in Genesis 2. Jesus withdrew to solitude before major decisions. The disciples asked Him to teach them to pray because they saw it as the "secret sauce." Don't neglect meeting together (Hebrews 10:25).
Start with just 10 minutes this week. Turn down the noise. Be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10). You might think it's not working—until you miss it and notice the difference.
