The sermon explored the Parable of the Rich Fool found in Luke 12:16-21, where Jesus responds to a dispute over an inheritance by redirecting the crowd's attention away from money and toward the deeper question of who sits on the throne of our lives. Jesus makes it clear that a person's life is not defined by the abundance of their possessions, and that true kingdom living means placing Jesus as king over every area of life, including our finances, our relationships, and our ambitions. The implications for our spiritual life are significant: when Jesus is king, our grip on what we have loosens, our generosity increases, and our hearts align with the purposes of God.

What is your life really about? In Luke 12:16-21, Jesus tells the story of a rich man who built bigger barns to store his wealth, only to be called a fool by God. Not because he was successful, but because he made himself king of his own life instead of surrendering that throne to Jesus.

Jesus was playing chess when everyone else was playing checkers. He did not just address a dispute over an inheritance. He went straight to the heart of the issue: greed, selfishness, and the question of who is truly king of your life.

Being rich toward God means managing what He has entrusted to you with an open hand. Gain all you can, save all you can, use all you can, and give all you can. Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also (Luke 12:34).

Who is king of your life today?

The sermon explored the life of Abraham as a model of faith lived out in the real world -- not a perfect, doubt-free faith, but a faith that took the next step even when the path ahead was unclear. Drawing from Genesis 12 through 25, we traced Abraham's journey from Haran to the Promised Land and saw how, alongside his genuine devotion to God, he repeatedly struggled with doubt and tried to help God out with plan B's, C's, and D's. The great encouragement is that Abraham still made the hall of faith -- not because he had it all figured out, but because in the midst of uncertainty, he kept taking the next step. That same invitation stands before each of us today.

Abraham was a man of great faith -- but he was also a man of real doubt. He brought Lot as a backup plan. He tried Hagar when the promise seemed too slow. He made plan B, plan C, plan D. And yet, Genesis 15:6 tells us God credited his faith as righteousness. He made the hall of faith not because he was perfect, but because he kept taking the next step.

God does not always hand us a map. Sometimes He gives us a headlamp -- just enough light to see the next ten feet of trail.

What is your next step today? Forgiveness? Asking for help? Saying yes to Jesus for the first time? Whatever it is, you do not need certainty for every mile ahead. You just need enough faith for the one step in front of you.
