It is easy for us to get discouraged. We look at the lack of success we have in some spiritual work, and lose our desire to keep trying. Paul tells Corinth that they should not lose their footing, that they should be "unmovable and steadfast”. So often someone tells us “no” to a Bible study, and we already want to give up preaching the gospel. That is not the attitude that we should have. It is likely that we will get turned down for Bible studies or when inviting people to church but, we must remember that our “labor is not in vain”. Being a servant of God requires us to have strong footing on God’s word and have the knowledge that we are called to a job that is not easy and not always comfortable, but most importantly is never in vain.

When you are driving down the road, how many things take your attention off the road? Your attention is only taken for mere seconds, but you are still letting your eyes wander, for what? Our spiritual lives will experience many distractions and temptations. The devil is like a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8), waiting to pounce once you feed into these distractions. Our focus must be on our eternal destination. Our sight must not wander to those bright and loud distractions that are around us. Each step forward must be intentional and deliberate. If you feed into these distractions, that lion is waiting for you. On the road to our eternal destination, there are no detours, there are no shortcuts. The only way through this life is a marathon race on a straight and narrow path. Know that your Christian family is there to help you along the way, to help bear each other's burdens. Know that you are not alone in this world. Stay true to the path of righteousness!

Did you know we offer many opportunities for Bible studies every week? We have weekly studies that are directed toward specific groups. They provide opportunities for us to come together and learn from each other and ask questions. We also have several Bible studies set up with people individually to meet specific needs and have more direct and personal conversations. One of the many benefits of being a part of the family of God is having this community and support when life is challenging (Ephesians 2:19). If you would like to be a part of this community, send us a message for more details or join us at services to meet everyone and learn more about the ways we stay connected.

Unfortunately we live in a world that is not perfect, that has many “lawless deeds” taking place everyday. We share this similarity with Lot. We see, and hear many things throughout our day that go against God’s word. When Lot was around these evil things it says that it "distressed" him and “was tormenting his righteous soul”. Is our soul tormented? Are we distressed? Are we even bothered when we see sin taking place around us? Most of us have had our consciences seared from the evil around us. (1 Tim. 4:2) We cannot become complacent and used to sin around us. We must identify sin for what it is, and flee from it. We can only identify sin and know how to handle it if we stay diligent in studying God’s word. We are called to remain righteous in this wicked world, just like Lot did. If we follow God’s word, we will be saved from the punishment God has prepared for the world, just as Lot was saved from S***m.

As most of us know, God created us, and everything around us. From the Milky Way galaxy, to the neutron that is part of an atom, it has all been created by God. After God finished creating the universe, He saw that His creation was “good”. I believe it is safe to say that the creator of the universe is a good judge of what is good or bad. Now how often throughout the week do you feel like you are worthless, whether inadequate at your job or just having a hard day in general. The creator of the universe created you, and has said that you are good. You have a purpose and value (Eph. 2:10). We have to remember that the definition of good does not come from social media or whatever the world defines as good, but that it comes from God. No matter what the world may say or how someone makes you feel, God has said that you are not worthless, and are more than adequate for the task before you. Remember that you do have value and a job to do. God has created you in a way so that you can perform that job perfectly.
