If you have not heard of our initiative 168, it is a project begun by our sewing circle to put together 168 school kits and 168 dignity kits for MCC is honor of the 168 girls killed in February when a missile strike hit a school in Minab, Iran. This summer we have been praying for peace and an end to wars around the world.
On Sunday August 30th we are assembling the kits during our 5th service Sunday. In the 168 hours (one week) leading up to it, we are committed to praying for peace and those affected by war. We are having individuals sign up for hour time slots (you don’t have to pray for the full hour just at the top of the hour). If anyone would like to join us, we are still looking for people to pray in the afternoon/evenings and the middle of the night time slots. Please email Pastor Adam [email protected] or Pastor Betsi [email protected] or send us a Facebook message and we will help you sign up for a time slot that will fit your schedule.

Don’t forget…tomorrow morning will be a youth sponsored coffee house at church from 9:00-10:15. We will have iced lattes, iced chai, refreshers with popping boba, and coffee!

If you have not checked out the Mennonite Heritage Farm lately, it’s a wonderful place to learn about the history of Lewis County Mennonites and this summer they are offering free classes for kids!

Mennonite Heritage Farm is offering a variety of classes from 10:30 a.m. – noon AND 12:30 – 2 p.m. on August 4, 11, and 13:
Tuesday, August 4 – Embroidery – (morning or afternoon), homemade pencil holder (morning), and crocheting (afternoon) - ages 9-14 (Registration due Monday, August 3.) A number of women are involved in the instruction.
Tuesday, August 11 – Canvas painting (Lisa Schamback, instructor) and rubber block printing (Kyle Zehr, instructor). You have a choice of morning or afternoon – ages 8-14 (Registration due Monday, August 10.)
Thursday, August 13 – MUSIC - NEW class for the full day (Kendra Virkler, instructor) – “A Heritage Harmony Hunt" - ages 10-14 from 10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Brief agenda: children's games from farm days that included singing, quartet demo and singing, shape note activity, hymn scavenger hunt on nature trail, creative writing of a praise poem, and concluding the day with a program of practice and presentation to parents at 1:45 p.m. (Registration due Wednesday, August 12.)

Ladies don’t forget to join us for tea and talk tonight from 7-8 at Pastor Betsi’s house…tonight we will be serving two kinds of ice tea…a white tea with blueberries and a decaffeinated English tea (brought back from England) along with scones provided by Beth Rush and homemade chocolate peanut butter truffles…join us for some delicious treats and a time of fellowship
