Pearlie Marie (Stapleton) McKenzie, 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Baptist Health in Richmond, KY.

She was born on April 21, 1937, in Nippa, KY to Dan and Osie (Castle) Stapleton.

On August 29, 1955, Pearl (Pearlie) married Gene McKenzie, and together they shared almost 71 wonderful years of marriage.

She was known for her kindness, compassion, generosity, friendly upbeat personality, strong character, and her strong love of family.

She loved spending time with family, working jigsaw puzzles, wordsearch puzzles, and of course, watching her favorite soap operas and game shows on TV.

Pearl is survived by her beloved husband, Gene, two sons, Edwin (Karen) McKenzie, of La Salle, IL, and Walter (Sheila Campbell) McKenzie of Hazard, KY; siblings Robert Stapleton of Flat Gap, KY and Margie Lou Stapleton of San Antonio, TX; Brother-In-Law Elvin McKenzie, of Colorado and Sister-In-Law Janet Edwards of Tennessee, close friend of the family Jesse (Bub) Goble; 7 grandchildren, Jason McKenzie, Cristene Bishop, Steven Rasmussen, Anthony (Tony) Rasmussen, Josh McKenzie, Amber Swedberg, and Cora Riley; 16 great grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, three daughters, Yvonne McKenzie, Betty Rasmussen, and Teresa Nimtz; and siblings Henry Stapleton, Billy Ray Stapleton, Florabell Litteral, Sarah Drake, and Sandra (Sue) Jackson; Sister-In-Laws Reta Zust, of Maine, and Mary McKenzie of Colorado, and Brother-In-Law Ralph Edwards of Tennessee,

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at 11:00 am at Lowmansville First Church of God, just off US 23 at 69 Morning Star Lane, Lowmansville, KY.
