VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (VBS) IS COMING!
July 13-17, 2026, 9:15am-12:15pm
Ages 5-10 years

At Snowball Mountain Challenge VBS, kids become Challengers, bold explorers who are ready to face life's mountains and valleys. Each day revolves around a powerful Bible story and a key takeaway tied to Philippians 4:13, helping kids understand that God's strength is their strength.

You may register online at www.bethelumc.us

We will be looking for teachers, helpers, etc. so if you are so led, and are able to be there one day or all five, please let the office know.

The Source of All Peace
From: Finding My Way Home: Pathways to Life and the Spirit
Do not give up working for peace. Always remember that the peace for which you work is not of this world. Do not let yourself be distracted by the great noises of war, the dramatic descriptions of misery, and the sensational expressions of human cruelty. The newspapers, movies, and war novels may make you numb, but they do not create in you a true desire for peace. They tend to create feelings of shame, guilt, and powerlessness, and these feelings are the worst motives for peace work.
Keep your eyes on the prince of peace, the one who doesn't cling to his divine power; the one who refuses to turn stones into bread, jump from great heights, and rule with great power; the one who says, “Blessed are the poor, the gentle, those who mourn, and those who hunger and thirst for righteousness; blessed are the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers and those who are persecuted in the cause of uprightness” (see Matt. 5:3-11). See the one who touches the lame, the crippled, and the blind; the one who speaks words of forgiveness and encouragement; the one who dies alone, rejected, and despised. Keep your eyes on him who becomes poor with the poor, weak with the weak, and who is rejected with the rejected. That one, Jesus, is the source of all peace.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS! This coming Sunday, May 24 we will celebrate Pentecost, which is often referred to as the 'Birthday of the Church.' We encourage you to wear red if you have it...as it is a reminder of the Flame of the Holy Spirit that lives in all of us.

ALSO, we will change to our Summer Schedule. Worship service moves to 10:00 now through Labor Day. Sunday School is on Summer break as well.

Please take note of these important events happening and we invite you as always to invite a friend to join us! 🔥☀️🕊️✝️

The following prayer was shared by Dr. Eric Park, former Pastor and District Superintendent in Western PA, now serving Christ U.M Church in New York City.

On this Mother’s Day weekend, I pray with wonderment for women who have dared to say yes to the daunting challenges of bearing, adopting, or fostering children and raising them into a meaningful adulthood.

I pray with gratitude for women who gave birth to children and who, for important reasons, courageously released those children into the processes of adoption or foster caregiving so that new families might be created.

I pray with awe for women who opened their hearts and lives to children they did not birth yet attentively mothered.

I pray with concern for troubled relationships—for mothers and children who are alienated from one another.

I pray with heartbreak for children grieving over the death or absence of their mothers and mothers grieving over the death or absence of their children.

I pray with longing for mothers and children separated from one another by geography and circumstances.

I pray with distress for women carrying in their souls the deep and complicated pain of a miscarriage or multiple miscarriages.

I pray with anguish for children who are abused or mistreated by their mothers and for mothers who are abused or mistreated by their children.

I pray with anger for mothers caring for their children in the face of domestic abuse and the perpetual threat of violence.

I pray with sadness for women who yearn to be mothers, but who live with the heaviness of an unfulfilled maternal longing.

I pray with love for all the women who have been a mothering presence in my life—women who have mentored me, taught me, shaped me, discipled me, and revealed to me the Divine Heart in their loving embrace.

Where people find delight in Mother’s Day this year, I pray that God will expand their spirit of joy. Where people experience the day with pain, sorrow, and anxiety, I pray that God will envelop their hurt in healing grace.

I offer these prayers to God, our Steadfast Parent, whose grace covers all situations of motherhood and in whose love all motherhood finds its deepest identity and redemption. Amen.

Peace, friends.
