INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK —
Salvation is a gift God dearly wishes us to accept. It is not a yardstick against which He measures our worth. He has made it so simple. So, will we accept?

The Lowe Down

June 1st marks my seven-year anniversary of being assigned here at Saint Michael’s. As I did last for the last few years, let us look back on what our parish accomplished this last year. Major projects had to be addressed even in the face of budget concerns.

Church – Added new altar lighting and side altar lighting. Replace over 150 slate roof tiles that were broken, missing or cracked. Drain at door #12 (ramp leading down to hall near trash bins) repaired. Added new hangings behind the altar to mimic some of the lost art from the painting project in the 70s. Repaired drains at door #12 (Ramp near Day Chapel) that were not draining.

Day Chapel – No changes

Rectory – removed slate from the upper roof, replaced with 30-year asphalt shingles. Replaced igniter in the rectory oven. Repaired and painted ceilings on the 3rd floor damaged by roof leaks. Bathroom updates in the pastor suite.

Convent – No Changes

School – No major maintenance

Ministry – Fr. Chris presented a Liturgical Year class. Tim Hayes presented a class on Giving Thanks. Fr. Chris presented a class on the Screwtape Letters.

Events – Several Movie Afternoons and Evenings. Comedy Night. Spaghetti Dinner. Holly Fair. Afternoon Tea. Wreath Making. Derby FUN raiser.

Fr. Chris

Virtues, EXPLAINED!“Piety denotes the reverence which we give to our faith and to our country,” writes St. Thomas Aquinas. “And since God is the Father of all, the worship of God is also called piety.”
