When the disciples of Jesus Christ were toiling all night against the wind and the waves, why did He wait until the fourth watch to come to them? (See Mark 6:47-48). What answers have you received to the question "why does the Lord wait to deliver us?"

I love this quote from Elder Holland's talk "Waiting on the Lord" given in the October 2020 General Conference.

It is amazing how God rewards those who give without seeking praise from others.

Matthew 6:
3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

As we have studied the revelatory process of translating the Book of Mormon in Seminary, it is important to step back and appreciate the divine work this process brought forth. The Book of Mormon is an amazing and inspiring book of scripture that the Prophet Joseph Smith was given power from God to translate.

"As we cultivate an attitude of gratitude, we are more likely to be happy and spiritually strong."
To prepare for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, take time to ponder and share what you are grateful for with the people who have blessed your life. We may not be able change our circumstances in life but we can change our perspective on life. Watch this inspirational video of someone who is grateful despite the challenges he faces.

We watched this video in seminary to help us refocus on the Savior. What impresses you about the Savior and his interactions with those who may feel inadequate and unworthy?

What would Jesus Christ say to those who feel inadequate and unworthy? This music video shows clips from "Bible Videos" produced by The Church of Jesus Chris...

This is a great way to study the Book of Mormon during the rest of this calendar year!

I have spoken of Israel in at least 378 of the more than 800 messages I have delivered during my 36 years as an Apostle. So imagine my delight when I recently learned that one of the Hebraic meanings of the word Israel is “let God prevail.” Thus, the very name of Israel refers to a person who is willing to let God prevail in his or her life. That concept stirs my soul!

When your greatest desire is to let God prevail, to be part of Israel, so many decisions become easier. So many issues become non-issues! You know how best to groom yourself. You know what to watch and read, where to spend your time, and with whom to associate. You know what you want to accomplish. You know the kind of person you really want to become.

Each of us has a divine potential because each is a child of God. Each is equal in His eyes. The implications of this truth are profound. Brothers and sisters, please listen carefully to what I am about to say. God does not love one race more than another. His doctrine on this matter is clear. He invites all to come unto Him, “black and white, bond and free, male and female,” (2 Nephi 26:33). The question for each of us, regardless of race, is the same. Are you willing to let God prevail in your life?

As you study your scriptures during the next six months, I encourage you to make a list of all that the Lord has promised He will do for covenant Israel. I think you will be astounded! Ponder these promises. Talk about them with your family and friends. Then live and watch for these promises to be fulfilled in your own life.

Throughout this I have pictured you in my mind listening to conference. I have asked the Lord to help me understand what you are feeling, worrying about, or trying to resolve.

I feel that despite the world’s commotion, the Lord would have us “look forward [to the future] with joyful anticipation” (Joseph Smith, “History of the Church,” 4:609–10). Let us not spin our wheels in the memories of yesterday. The gathering of Israel moves forward. The Lord Jesus Christ directs the affairs of His Church, and it will achieve its divine objectives.

Today we often hear about “a new normal.” If you really want to embrace “a new normal,” I invite you to turn your heart, mind, and soul increasingly to our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Let that be your “new normal.”

Embrace your “new normal” by repenting daily. Seek to be increasingly pure in thought, word, and deed. Minister to others. Keep an eternal perspective. Magnify your callings. And, whatever your challenges, my dear brothers and sisters, live each day so that you are more prepared to meet your Maker.

Now I invite you to leave a comment for me if you wish. As we conclude this conference, what will you do to embrace a “new normal”—to turn your heart, mind, and soul to our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ?
