Take time today as a family to pray—talk and listen to God. Pray these four things:
• Thank God that He knows everything about you.
• Ask God to help you remember that you can be your real self with Him.
• Pray for one another.
• Choose one or two other people to pray for—pray they would know that God knows them, loves them, and cares for them.

Our Bible story this week came from Matthew 14:22-33 and taught that God knows our real fears. While stuck in a boat in the middle of a storm, Jesus’ friends were shocked to see Jesus walking on water toward them! One friend, Peter, got out of the boat and started walking toward Jesus. But Peter grew afraid because of the storm and began to sink. Jesus reached out and rescued Peter, got into the boat, and calmed the storm. We can know that God knows our real fears and offers us peace and comfort. Turn off the lights and play flashlight tag as a family. Each time someone gets caught, say, “God knows your real fears, and He’s always with you!”

This week, take 1 day to ask these 2 questions and spend 3 minutes talking about them: Have you ever wondered if anyone knows what you’re really feeling? Since God knows what you’re really feeling, how can you turn to Him for encouragement?

Cut two pieces of paper into four rectangles and draw a simple face with an emotion on each piece: happy, sad, mad, and scared. Take turns pulling a card and holding it so others can see the face. The family members looking at the face will try to get the person holding the card to guess the emotion by saying things that would make them feel that way. For example, for a happy face you might say, “Going to the park!” or “Eating apple pie!” Celebrate that, as a family, you can know each other’s feelings, and that God always knows your real feelings

We had some Real Talk this week as we taught kids that God knows their real feelings. In Luke 10:38-42, a woman named Martha was distracted as she prepared for Jesus and His friends, the disciples. Martha grew frustrated that her sister, Mary, was sitting at Jesus’ feet. But Jesus knew what they were both feeling and what they truly needed—Him. Jesus knows our real feelings too. And He is what we need the most. Take some time this week to make a list of wants and needs with your kids. Talk about the differences between the two. We may feel like we need something, but it is more of a want. God knows our real feelings and gives us what we really need—Jesus!

This week, take 1 day to ask these 2 questions and spend 3 minutes talking about them: What do you usually do when you mess up? How can it help you to remember that God knows your real mistakes and loves you?

“God is greater than our hearts, and he knows all things.” (1 John 3:20b) For adults in our world of social media, it can be easy to think we are making ourselves “known” through pictures, posts, and captions about our lives. But often those snapshots are just that—surface bits of information that don’t paint a full picture. Whenever you find yourself in a murky sea wondering if anyone truly knows you, remember this Bible verse. Remember that the God who created you knows everything about you—the good, the bad, and the ugly—and He loves you so much. You are known!

Our Bible story this week came from Genesis 11:1-9. The story of the Tower of Babylon taught about people who made a mistake by trying to build a tower and stay together when God had told them to go out and fill the earth. God loved them so much that He stepped in to stop them from continuing to disobey Him. God knows our real mistakes too, and He gives us what we need—forgiveness through His Son, Jesus. This week, be intentional to show compassion and forgiveness for your kids’ mistakes. Look them in the eyes and say, “God knows your mistakes and forgives you, and so do I.”

Play a fun guessing game to see if your family can read each other’s thoughts! Take turns choosing an item in the room. Family members can ask yes or no questions to try and figure out the item. “Is it green? Is it up high? Does dad use it the most?” However, you only have 10 questions to figure it out! When you’re done, talk about the incredible truth that God knows our real thoughts and loves us no matter what.

This week’s Real Talk Bible story taught that God knows our real thoughts. In Luke 18, Jesus told a story about a prideful religious leader and a humble tax collector. We learned from this story that God knows our real thoughts and motivations. He knows what we need the most—His forgiveness, and He hears us when we pray and talk to Him. As you’re out in your community, call out something, and ask your kids, “What do you think about when you see that?” Enjoy learning more about what’s going on in each other’s heads, and celebrate the truth that God knows everything about you, including your thoughts.
