National Su***de Prevention Month is observed in September. It is a time to honor the millions of people who have had suicidal thoughts, to mourn the lives lost to su***de, and to recognize the numerous people, families, and communities that have been affected by su***de. It’s also an opportunity to spread hopeful messages and increase awareness of su***de prevention.

In September and throughout the year, we may focus on su***de prevention, connect with our community, culture, statistics, and research, and work together to tackle this public health crisis that has affected so many people.

We are still accepting school supply donations of 100 packs of crayons, 100 packs of pens, 100 notebooks, and 100 packs of loose paper until Friday, August 2nd. Donations can be dropped off at the following locations and times:

July is National Minority Mental Health Month, a national initiative started by Mental Health America. It aims to raise awareness of the variety of experiences BIPOC populations have with mental health. The month also considers unfair inequities that have a detrimental effect on a person’s mental health, such as historical and institutional impediments.

June 27th is National HIV Testing Day, when we emphasize the importance of HIV testing and knowing your HIV status. The NHTD theme for this year is “Level up your self-love: check your status,” which encourages us to take control of our health and wellness by getting tested and demonstrating our value, respect, and compassion for ourselves.
