Fear has a way of showing up at the most unexpected moments, doesn’t it? Fear of failure. Fear of sickness. Fear of unknown outcomes. Fear of exposure. All fear can contribute to a place of absolute despair.

Joseph was already dealing with confusion and pressure when an angel appeared to him in a dream. The angel began with words that appear throughout the Bible whenever God’s people face uncertainty.

“Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife.” (Matthew 1:20, NIV)

Did you see those words? “Do not be afraid.”

God says those words again and again in Scripture because He knows how easily fear takes hold of our hearts.

Fear tells us we are alone. Fear tells us we must figure everything out by ourselves. Fear tells us the future is uncertain. But God’s presence changes everything!

When we know that God is with us, fear loses its power.

The same God who stood with David against Goliath, protected Daniel in the lions’ den, and guided Esther in a dangerous moment is the same God who stands with us today.

Fear might still knock on the door of our hearts, but it doesn’t get to control our lives. Why? Because God’s presence gives us courage.

Sometimes courage doesn’t mean we feel brave. Sometimes it simply means we choose to move forward trusting that God is walking beside us.

And when we take that step of faith, we discover something incredible: we were never walking alone… EVER!

Let’s pray together:

God, You know the fears that live in my heart. Remind me today that I am not facing life alone. Give me courage to trust You and strength to move forward even when the path feels uncertain. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

I want you to pause for one sacred moment and consider something that may change the way you see your entire life.

Every moment you’ve lived—every victory, every disappointment, every unexpected turn—has brought you to this moment. And the truth that sits quietly beneath all of it is this: God has been with you the entire time.

Sometimes we think of God as someone who steps into our lives during the big moments: the breakthrough moments, the miracle moments, the crisis moments. But the story of Scripture tells a different story.

It tells us that God is not just present during the dramatic scenes of life—He is present in the ordinary ones too.

If you look back over your life, you’ll see moments that didn’t make sense at the time—seasons that felt confusing, situations that seemed painful or uncertain. And yet, here you are. Still standing. Still breathing. Still moving forward.

That’s not an accident.

The Bible shows us that from the very beginning, God has always desired to walk with His people. In the Garden of Eden, God literally walked with Adam and Eve. There was no distance between Creator and creation. There was connection, closeness, and presence.

“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day.” (Genesis 3:8, NIV)

God wasn’t distant then, and He isn’t distant now.

The same God who walked in the garden has been walking through the moments of your life as well—through the joyful seasons and the painful ones, through the times you felt confident and the times you felt completely lost.

Even when you didn’t recognize Him, He was there.

Maybe today is the day you begin to notice that.

Take a moment to reflect on the story of your life—the people who helped shape you, the challenges that strengthened you, the unexpected turns that redirected you. When you begin to see your life through the lens of God’s presence, you’ll realize something powerful:

You were never walking alone.

And the beautiful truth is that the God who has been with you in every chapter of your past is the same God who is with you in this moment right now.

God, thank You for being with me through every moment of my life. Thank You for the times I recognized Your presence and even the times I didn’t. Help me to see my story through the lens of Your faithfulness. Open my eyes to the ways You are walking with me today. Amen.
