Crescent Hill United Methodist Church We are a Church family that welcomes all who seek to celebrate God’s love through Christ. Worship in the current building began in 1927.

In 1887, nine charter members started meeting in a little school house on Vernon Avenue where they organized the Crescent Hill Methodist Episcopal Church. Several years later in 1890, a site was purchased for the building of a sanctuary at Frankfort and South Ewing Avenues. Expansion and growth prevailed until 1922 when the lot for the present building was purchased. In June of 1992, Clifton Heigh

ts United Methodist Church merged with Crescent Hill Methodist Church. From our strong past, we have done well with our talents and resources to become a living church. Today we continue into the 21st century, with a strong commitment to affirm the “teachings of Christ” in our daily living.

Today we begin Lent.

On Ash Wednesday, we remember who we are and whose we are.

The ashes mark us with two simple truths. We are dust, and to dust we shall return. And we are deeply loved by God. The cross traced on our foreheads is both a sign of our mortality and a sign of hope.

Ash Wednesday invites you to tell the truth about your life. Where you have fallen short. Where you need grace. Where you long to grow.

In our tradition, Lent is not about earning God’s love. It is about making space to receive it. Through prayer, fasting, generosity, and honest reflection, you open your heart to the transforming work of Christ.

This is a season to return.
To clear away what distracts.
To rekindle the gift God has placed within you.

As the ashes are placed on your forehead, hear the invitation. Turn your heart toward God. Walk the road to the cross. Trust that resurrection is coming.

Worship Update | January 25, 2025

Due to the significant winter storm expected to impact our city this weekend, in-person worship at Crescent Hill United Methodist Church is canceled for Sunday, January 25, 2025.
The safety of our congregation and community is our priority. We encourage everyone to stay home, stay warm, and take care of one another.
