The Louisville Muhsineen is a gathering of Muslim men ranging from ages 18-45 who cooperate in developing themselves towards being foremost in their knowledge, practice, & adherence to Islamic principles. Louisville Muhsineen is a gathering of men between the ages of 18-45 in the local Muslim community of Louisville, KY. We look to develop ourselves into well-rounded, skilled, knowledgeable young

men to benefit the community in multiple ways including fulfilling the communal obligations, to augment sincere efforts across the various masaajid, & to contribute to the health & well-being of our fellow Muslims. We have numerous workshops and will upload workshop recordings for our future reference and the benefit of the entire community.

Our treasurer, Ahmad Hajisufi, recently had his marriage ceremony at Guiding Light Islamic Center and we joined him in celebrating!

May Allah grant & keep sakinah (tranquility) in his marriage and in the marriages of all of the brothers & sisters in our community, inspire the husbands & wives to maintain their bonds with contentment and with a focus on taqwa of Allah. May Allah guide those who are not currently married to find righteous spouses!

Surah al-Hujurat, verse 13: "O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted."

Many of our men helped facilitate the various Eid prayers, keeping an orderly & secure flow of brothers & sisters to and from the congregation. Afterwards, many headed to various farms to perform their Udhiya & Qurbani!

May Allah accept all of your prayers, your fasts, your deeds, your invocations, your charity, your service to your parents, your spouses, your children, your families, to the elders & youth, to the leaders, scholars, & the laypeople in our Louisville Muslim Community.

The brothers of the Louisville Muhsineen visited Br. Ibrahim ( Halal Cuts LLC ) in Campbellsburg. Br. Ibrahim patiently & comprehensively demonstrated how to do the zabiha handslaughtering method & also taught our members how to skin & process the meat. We slaughtered two lambs with many of our brothers getting hands-on experience, many of whom this was their first time. All of this workshop contributes to training our men to know how to perform the Udhiyya/Qurbani with Eid al-Adha around the corner.

Surah al-Hajj, verse 37: "It is not their meat nor their blood, that reaches Allah: it is your piety that reaches Him: He has thus made them subject to you, that ye may glorify Allah for His Guidance to you and proclaim the good news to all who do right."

The brothers of the Louisville Muhsineen gathered for Dhuhr at MCC, then headed to Tom Sawyer Park to practice their archery there. Brothers got to learn how to aim, draw, & launch arrows from composite & recurve bows. While there, we abided by good range etiquette with other families sharing the same range. May Allah reward those brothers for their practicing and elevate this practice of a Sunnah!

Jami' al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 1637: Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Husain that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Indeed, Allah will surely admit three into Paradise by a single arrow. Its maker who seeks good by his making it, the one who shoots it, and the one who holds arrows for him." And he said: "Practice archery and practice riding, and the you should practice archery is more beloved to me than that you should ride. All idle pastimes that the Muslim man engages in are falsehood, except for his shooting of his bow, his training of his horse, and his playing with his wife, for they are from truth."

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَيُدْخِلُ بِالسَّهْمِ الْوَاحِدِ ثَلاَثَةً الْجَنَّةَ صَانِعَهُ يَحْتَسِبُ فِي صَنْعَتِهِ الْخَيْرَ وَالرَّامِيَ بِهِ وَالْمُمِدَّ بِهِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَقَالَ ‏"‏ ارْمُوا وَارْكَبُوا وَلأَنْ تَرْمُوا أَحَبُّ إِلَىَّ مِنْ أَنْ تَرْكَبُوا كُلُّ مَا يَلْهُو بِهِ الرَّجُلُ الْمُسْلِمُ بَاطِلٌ إِلاَّ رَمْيَهُ بِقَوْسِهِ وَتَأْدِيبَهُ فَرَسَهُ وَمُلاَعَبَتَهُ أَهْلَهُ فَإِنَّهُنَّ مِنَ الْحَقِّ

The Louisville Muhsineen joined community members to work on the community garden to near completion. We completed the raised bed construction, helped place mulch & wood-chips on paths connecting the different raised beds, & helped till the ground inside the raised beds.

We implored the community to join us in living the Qu'ran that they read & recite so that it may be a weighty deed for them on their Scales that they not only read the Qu'ran but obey the commands given by Allah (subḥānahu wa-taʿālā).

Surah al-Abasa, verses 24-27: "Then let mankind look at his food - How We poured down water in torrents - Then We broke open the earth, splitting - And caused to grow within it grain"

Our brothers spent the weekend in the Red River Gorge, sojourning to a quiet set of mountains, gulches, and forested valleys to encamp at Land of the Arches campground. Our members hiked & traversed up to Natural Bridge, walked across the great sandstone arch, and looked out from Lookout Point. Some of our members had the chance to fish & kayak at Mill Creek Lake. We prayed together in the quiet woods and reflected on the enormity and tranquility of Allah's creation.

Surah Qaf, verse 7: "And the earth, We have extended and cast therein anchorages, (i.e., mountains) and We caused to grow in it of every delightful pair."

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَدَدۡنَٰهَا وَأَلۡقَيۡنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجِۭ بَهِيجٖ

Our brothers spent the day after Dhuhr prayer assembling wooden borders to frame the 4 feet by 10 feet garden plots that are being rented out to Muslims in our local community at the community garden at Guiding Light Islamic Center.

We have been consistent in our support of this wonderful effort headed by Sr. Assia Amry and families in the GLIC area to start their own community garden and have enjoyed the opportunity to teach some of our newer members basic carpentry know-how and how to use tools including circular saws, drills, & other devices.

Surah Muhammad, verse 31: "We will certainly test you ˹believers˺ until We prove those of you who ˹truly˺ struggle ˹in Allah’s cause˺ and remain steadfast, and reveal how you conduct yourselves."

Our brothers set out to Greenhaven Islamic Cemetery to continue cutting down trees and finishing the snake-rail fence encircling the gazebo. Many of our brothers enjoyed learning how to use chainsaws, axes, & splitting mauls with wedges. We were reminded of the du'a for entering the cemetery (xamaalo/المقبرة) and the importance of reflecting on death and taking ourselves to account to examine what deeds we have prepared for that moment everyone will experience.

Remember to recite the du'a next time you visit the cemetery:
السَّلامُ عَلَـيْكُمْ أَهْلَ الدِّيارِ مِنَ المؤْمِنيـنَ وَالْمُسْلِمين وَإِنّا إِنْ شاءَ اللهُ بِكُـمْ لاحِقـون نَسْـاَلُ اللهَ لنـا وَلَكُـمْ العـافِيَة
Assalāmu `alaykum ahlad-diyāri minal-mu'minīna wa ‘l-muslimīn. wa innā in shā' Allāhu bikum lāḥiqūnnas'alullāha lanā wa lakumul-`āfiyah.

Surah Tawbah, verse 44: "Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day would not ask permission of you to be excused from striving with their wealth and their lives. And Allah is Knowing of those who fear Him."

لَا يَسۡتَـٔۡذِنُكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِ أَن يُجَٰهِدُواْ بِأَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡ وَأَنفُسِهِمۡۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمُۢ بِٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ,

We have welcomed a couple of new brothers into our gathering, introducing them and bringing the brothers back together now that the blessed month of Ramadan has come to an end. We had a friendly few games of bowling this past Sunday and celebrated the completion of one of the projects requested of us - the building of a fence-and-gate encompassing the space for a new community garden at Guiding Light Islamic Center!

Surah an-Nisa, verse 86: "When you are greeted with a greeting, greet in return with what is better than it, or (at least) return it equally. Certainly, Allah is Ever a Careful Account Taker of all things."

وَإِذَا حُيِّيتُم بِتَحِيَّةٖ فَحَيُّواْ بِأَحۡسَنَ مِنۡهَآ أَوۡ رُدُّوهَآۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٍ حَسِيبًا

The men of the Louisville Muhsineen participated in establishing safe & orderly Eid prayers across our city including at Al-Nur Masjid, Guiding Light Islamic Center, & at the Mellwood Art Center organized by Muslim Community Center of Louisville & Louisville Islamic Center of Compassion - River Road Mosque.

With over 6,000-10,000 Muslims in our community, we stepped forward to ensure that our brothers & sisters could partake in the Eid with the closing of Ramadan. From the Louisville Muhsineen, we wish everyone Eid Mubarak, Ciid Wanaagsaan, Bajram Šerif Mubarek Olsun, Barke Korité, Bayramınız Mübarek Olsun!

May Allah accept all of our fasts, our worship, & our deeds and reward all those who had patience during the Eid & forgive all of us our shortcomings, our sins, and allow us to see the following Ramadan!

Surah Luqmaan, verse 17: “O my son! establish regular prayer, enjoin what is just, and forbid what is wrong: and bear with patient constancy whatever betide thee; for this is firmness (of purpose) in (the conduct of) affairs."

يَٰبُنَيَّ أَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأۡمُرۡ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَٱنۡهَ عَنِ ٱلۡمُنكَرِ وَٱصۡبِرۡ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَصَابَكَۖ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ مِنۡ عَزۡمِ ٱلۡأُمُورِ
