Who was J. Gresham Machen?

J. Gresham Machen (1881-1937) was a prominent American theologian, scholar, and professor who played a significant role in the early 20th-century defense of conservative Presbyterianism and orthodox Christianity. He is best known for his opposition to theological liberalism, which he believed undermined the foundational truths of Christianity. In response to the rise of modernist ideas in the church, Machen became a staunch advocate for biblical inerrancy, the divinity of Christ, and traditional Reformed theology. His most influential book, Christianity and Liberalism (1923), argued that liberalism was a different religion altogether, separate from historic Christianity.

Hello, Louisville friends! I want to make you all aware of an upcoming event! There will be a meeting on Saturday, August 26th from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm discussing moving forward with an Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC) plant here in Louisville! The meeting will take place at the Northeast Regional Library. Representatives from the OPC will be here to tell us about the OPC and discuss the next steps!
