Worship is derived from "worthiness" or "worth-ship," signifying giving worth to something. This act involves acknowledging God's magnificence and exalting Him for who He is, not solely for what He has done. It is a continuous, heartfelt response and spiritual discipline that reflects a submission of one's heart and will to God alone. The primary function of a Church is worship. We worship through prayer, music and song, testimony, through the preached Word of God, and through response to Holy Spirit's leadership.
How do you most like to worship our Lord? One of my favorites is to have an outdoor worship service that seems to include the creation and Creator. Once, when my husband was preaching a sunrise service, a duck circled a nearby pond, landed near our small group, and waddled up close to the preacher as if he wanted to hear every word! "Let Heaven and nature sing!"

Prayers for Pastors:

Prayers for pastors often focus on their spiritual well-being, ministry effectiveness, and personal lives, recognizing the challenges they face. Many people pray for their pastors to have strength, encouragement, and inspiration, particularly amidst the demands and pressures of their role. This includes prayers for their personal devotion, that they might continue to study God's Word with joy and maintain a deep fellowship with God. It is also common to pray for pastors to have the wisdom, compassion, and discernment necessary to lead their congregations, teach the Gospel effectively, and refute opposition. Some prayers specifically ask for pastors to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to boldly proclaim the mystery of the Gospel. These prayers recognize that pastors face spiritual battles and temptations, and need divine protection and guidance.
Another significant area of prayer for pastors involves their families and personal lives. Prayers often ask for the protection and security of pastoral marriages, and for their children to be covered from harm. It is acknowledged that pastors face unique challenges that can impact their households, and prayers seek God's grace for them to manage their families well and bring up their children in faith. Additionally, prayers are offered for pastors' physical rest and resilience, as they often work long hours and carry significant burdens. There is a desire for pastors to find trusted confidants and accountability partners, and to use their time wisely, including setting aside moments for Sabbath rest and
personal prayer.
Congregants are encouraged to pray for their pastors regularly, not only during specific appreciation months, but as a continuous practice. This support is seen as crucial for the spiritual health of the pastor, their family, and the church as a whole. When praying for pastors, it is suggested to be specific, asking directly about their needs, and to offer prayers with genuine intent. The act of praying for pastors is considered a way to partner with Christ in guarding those who shepherd God's people.

Participating in Awesome August services!

AUGUST IS HERE!
Every Sunday night the whole month of August, we will be meeting at one of our 5 churches participating in Awesome August.

This Sunday night, we will be at Friendship Baptist church. Service begins @ 6 pm. Brother Rod Garrett, pastor of New Midway Baptist Church will bring the message.

A combined choir, made up of our 5 churches, will sing. Brother Jim Preston, music director at Friendship, will be leading our music this week
