I just realized that this little congregation (I am a temporary supply) in the little (but wonderful) town of Lostine, Oregon, is 141 years old this year.

There are older churches (the first Presbyterian Church in Oregon being at Clatsop Plains in 1846) in the state, and the church in Tutuilla (1882) may be the oldest in Eastern Oregon. Baker City was founded in 1884. Pendelton and Lostine in 1885 and La Grande in 1886.

All of these churches still thrive.

It would be fun to be around when it hits 150 (not as pastor, I am too old for that).

This congregation still remains vital and is engaged in the community in many ways. It is a wonderful, inclusive, welcoming, serving group of people who do not all agree on everything (and openly talk about that) but always agree on one thing. God is good, and God is love.
