It's the day the church remembers the descent of the Holy Spirit on the first apostles ~ it's the day we celebrate the birth of the Church's mission in the world! **Wear red or orange** (if you're able) and let's fill the sanctuary with the color of burning flame to represent the presence of the fire of the Spirit upon us, God's energy and presence among us! A death in the parish:

Dear friends,

I am so very sorry to be sharing the news that Jerry Walton has died.

Jerry died at home early yesterday morning, having been released from hospital on Sunday into hospice care at home. His death is a great shock to Carol and to their daughters.

Jerry's Celebration of Life will be at St. Benedict's on Saturday, May 16th at 2:00pm.
If you're in town this weekend, I hope you will gather with us at St. Ben's for this liturgy, this is a time for us to be together in love and thanksgiving, alongside Carol, Carol and Jerry's daughters, and their family.

Let us pray,

Gracious God, nothing in death or life, in the world as it is or the world as it shall be, nothing in all creation can separate us from your love. We commend Jerry into your loving care. Enfold him in the arms of your mercy and bless him, we pray, in his dying and in his rising again in you; for the sake of our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Most merciful God, whose wisdom is beyond our understanding: be present for Jerry's family and friends in their grief, especially for his beloved wife, Carol, and their daughters. Surround them all with your love, that they may not be overwhelmed by their loss, but may have confidence in your goodness, and strength to meet the days to come; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
