As the Lord blesses you and your life, that is not the time to build higher walls to better protect “your” belongings but rather lengthen the table.

Luke 6:38: "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."

Hebrews 13:16: "But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased."

1 Timothy 6:18: "That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share;"

Acts 20:35: "I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive."

James 2:15-16: "If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?"

Here is a serious crisis in modern pastoring, and David’s experience in 1 Samuel 30 exposes it plainly. When a preacher depends upon the affirmation of his congregation, the approval of his peers, or the acceptance of his denomination in order to remain steady, he will eventually stumble.
David faced a moment when every human support was removed. Scripture tells us that “David was greatly distressed,” that “the people spake of stoning him,” and that his family and home were taken. He was also living in a hostile land. There was no encouragement left to be found among men. Yet the record does not say that David waited for reassurance or sympathy. It says, “But David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.”
That moment reveals true spiritual maturity. David did not collapse when affirmation vanished, because his strength was never meant to rest in people. He learned to draw encouragement directly from God, and only then was he able to lead, inquire of the LORD, and strengthen others.
Modern pastors face similar pressures. Congregations change, peers disappoint, and denominational approval can be uncertain. A man who requires constant affirmation in order to stand will either compromise, grow bitter, or abandon his calling when that affirmation is withdrawn.
A pastor has not yet matured fully for the weight of shepherding until he can stand as David did—encouraged in the LORD when no one else stands with him. This does not harden a man’s heart; it steadies it. It frees him to preach truth without fear and to love God’s people without needing their praise.
Only a pastor who has learned to be encouraged in God alone is truly equipped to encourage others. When his strength comes from the LORD, he can carry others through their darkest moments—even while standing alone himself.

NTMI will start a new mini series on:
"Life Application Issues From A Biblical Perspective."
Sub title: "Things my father never taught me, but wished he had."
My father indeed did teach me much and his common sense approach to life was a great blessing for me. But, there are many that did not have that same advantage - a mentor, teacher, example by which to approach many of life's challenges.
Our new book will be much more in depth than is posted here.
If you have suggestions or "nuggets" of good old fashioned common sense topics, please private message them to me. If we use them in the upcoming book, we will give credit to the author.
The ideas, common sense suggestions, habits, daily practices or words of advice will not be in any particular order.
If some of the suggestions help you in your daily walk, Amen.
Please let us know if these brief visits concerning common sense, mentoring and words of wisdom are a blessing to you. As well, please forward to those that might benefit from our "Life Application Issues From A Biblical Perspective mentoring series.
