Fr. Dan Nevares, SJ
Fr. Lucas Sharma, SJ
Fr. Matt Yim, SJ

Please pray for them as they embark upon their priestly ministry.

Please join us in praying for Deacon Matthew Yim, SJ, who will be one of 6 men from Jesuits West ordained this Saturday.

When asked to reflect on his formation, Matthew wrote: "I think my Jesuit vocation has allowed me to better understand that everything is a gift from the Lord and that these gifts are not just for us but are meant to be shared with others for God’s greater glory."

Matthew's first assignment will be as a parochial vicar at St. Ignatius in Sacramento, CA.

Please join us in praying for Deacon Lucas Sharma, SJ, who will be one of 6 men from Jesuits West ordained to the priesthood on June 11th.

Encouraged by his teaching mentor, Lucas views his vocation as one of "holding tensions," similar to how we view the kingdom of God: We have a vision of the radical inclusion we desire and yet we fall short as we work to build it each day.

This fall Lucas will begin working on a Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of California, San Diego.

Please join us in praying for Deacon Mike Manalastas, SJ, who will be one of 6 men from Jesuits West ordained to the priesthood on June 11th.

Mike writes about how his Jesuit vocation has taken him to many places that he never thought he would go:

"It's taken me to the doorstep of death, ministering to terminally
ill patients in hospice; to the precipice of despair, ministering to young men in prison serving practically life sentences; [and] to a new way of thinking, understanding and communicating through the acquisition of the Spanish language."

Mike's next adventure will be as associate pastor at Blessed Sacrament Church in Hollywood, CA.

Joe's formation spanned two continents, and he write about how his time in a L'Arche community was one of his most formative experiences.

"Jesuits have to let go a lot," writes Joe. "It's never easy, but love is a generous teacher."

Over the next few weeks, we will be publishing profiles on each of these six men. First up is Deacon Manny Chavira, SJ. He sums up his vocation story in six words: "I allowed God to love me."
