*The forgiveness of sins*

Psalm 103:1-3 (KJV)

*"Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;..."*

God is so good that he has made detailed provisions for us, as his children. God knows that as human beings there are certain things we can not obtain even if we try with our life. God is so good that He makes those things available to us as free benefits.

One of those benefits God gives us is forgiveness. Our text says he forgives all our iniquities. This is so important because forgiveness of sins has life and death implications for a mankind. If a man's sin are not forgiven the man can not stand before God. It is only a man whose sins are forgiven that is blessed (fortunate) see Psalms 32:1.

Lastly, God made forgiveness a benefit because we can not obtain it by our efforts.

Hebrews 9:22 (Bible Gateway): *"...without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins".* Only Jesus's blood can procure God's forgiveness. In addition only Jesus can survive the death that is required to shed the redemptive blood. Only Jesus could pick His life back again. No man could die that death and survive. Similarly, no human blood can buy forgiveness because it is stained.

Ephesians 1:7 (Bible Gateway): *"In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses...".*

God is so good that He paid for our forgiveness with His precious and clean blood. He knows we will never be able to satisfy this requirement.

Forgiveness is a benefit freely given to anyone who believes in Jesus. God paid and made believing the standard to obtain forgiveness. This standard called believing is so low that any body in this world can achieve it. No matter the age, class, s*x, etc. any body can believe.

SAVED BY FAITH FOR GOOD WORKS

Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)

"8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast."

We are saved by the grace of God. No Christian got saved because they pleased God. People are saved only because they put their faith in what Jesus did (His death, burial and resurrection). That is why the Bible says the just shall live by faith. That faith is faith in Jesus alone. (Habakkuk 2:4 and Romans 1:17). Faith in Jesus is how we live.

Our salvation is a precious gift God gave us but the price we pay to appropriate it, is believing in Jesus.

Thank God for his mighty gift of salvation today.

Declaration:

I am saved by grace through faith not by my effort.

God offered me the full and complete gift of Salvation through Jesus. I am raised to a new life which is activated through faith that is anchored on God's grace.

I denounce pride and self-reliance, and boast in what Christ has done.

I have unwavering faith in the finished work of the cross.

THE PRAYER OF THE RIGHTEOUS MAN (PART 9):

Matthew 6:12 (NIV) says: "And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors." Our text is not a reminder of our sins but a reminder that as we pray, we have a father who forgives. Do not enter into prayer wondering about your sins rather wonder about God's capacity to forgive. We have a father who forgives recklessly. While it may not be obvious, it is important to explain that our text - Matthew 6:12, DOES NOT make our ability to forgive others a condition to receive forgiveness from God. This is because forgiveness is received on the sole condition of faith in Jesus. Forgiveness is received by God's grace. For example, in Acts 10:43 (NLT), Peter talking about Jesus said, "He is the one all the prophets testified about, saying that EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL HAVE THEIR SINS FORGIVEN through His name.” Furthermore, in Acts 13:38-39 Paul says: 38 “Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim THAT THROUGH THIS MAN JESUS THERE IS FORGIVENESS FOR YOUR SINS. 39 Everyone who believes in him is made right in God’s sight, something the law of Moses could never do." Also in Ephesians 1:7 (NIV) the bible says, "In Him we have redemption through his blood, THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RICHES OF GOD’S GRACE" Therefore, forgiveness is by faith in Jesus and according to the riches of God's grace only. So what does Matthew 6:12 mean (reveal) when it says forgive our debt (sin) as we forgive our debtors (i.e those who have sinned against us)? The text reveals that our ability to forgive is as God in Christ forgave us. So we forgive others with the measure of forgiveness we have received from God. We cannot receive 100% forgiveness and give 50%. That is living below your God given ability. Remember, Ephesians 4:32 (KJV) says: "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, FORGIVING ONE ANOTHER, EVEN AS GOD FOR CHRIST'S SAKE HATH FORGIVEN YOU." And Colossians 3:13 (KJV) says: "FORBEARING ONE ANOTHER, AND FORGIVING ONE ANOTHER, if any man have a quarrel against any: EVEN AS CHRIST FORGAVE YOU, SO ALSO DO YE." As you pray, don't pray with unforgiveness in your heart. Offer forgiveness freely to others.

Life lessons from the Christmas Story (Part 2):

God speaking in Genesis 3:15 (NKJV) said:

"And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed;He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”

Our text is the first obvious announcement of the coming of Jesus our saviour. Isn't it interesting that everytime Jesus is preached (announced) hope of newness of life comes? It is powerful to know that the preaching of Jesus reveals God's love.

From our text we see God use a woman who had just disobeyed him. Gen 3:6 (NLT):

"The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it."

God said the Seed of my great redemptive work is in the woman. God didn't go try to get a clean person to drive his plan on earth. His choice was a woman who just sinned and hasn't even asked for His forgiveness. God's choice was independent of what had happened. God still had faith in the woman.

Think about that today. God has faith in you. You are not too dirty for him. You are not a hopeless case. The seed he put in you is intact and it will birth a mighty work.

Christmas reminds us that once upon a time in history, God picked a woman who had just betrayed him, partnered with her to commence the actualization of his biggest work. Redemption is God’s biggest work and He started it with the Seed He put in the woman, Eve (who just sinned).

Just as the Christmas story teaches us not to despise the seed God has placed within us, it teaches us even more profoundly that we must never despise ourselves for any reason.

Remember that God placed the Seed of his greatest redemptive work in Eve despite her imperfection. He equally has placed a divine seed in us and that seed remains alive, powerful, and intact. His faith in us is greater than our mistakes, and His purpose in us cannot be aborted.

Note: God didnt despise Eve the same way He did not despise the Seed. If God's mighty redemptive work today started as the "Seed" in an imperfect woman, then the massive work God wants to do in and through you is possible.

God's faith in you is greater than your mistake.

Do not despise yourself.

Merry Christmas!

"Declaration"

Father, I thank you that through Christ, the promised Seed, you declared redemption before condemnation and hope before failure. Today, I boldly declare that I am not despised, disqualified, or discredited. Just as you placed the Seed of your greatest redemptive work in Eve despite her imperfection, you have placed a divine seed in me that remains alive, powerful, and intact. Your purpose in me cannot be aborted. Through Jesus, the Seed of the woman, every work of the enemy is crushed, and new life, restoration, and victory spring forth from me in this Christmas season. I embrace my identity, honor the seed within me, and step confidently into the mighty work you will birth through my life. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!

Righteousness: My gift of no condemnation (Part 4)

John 8: 6-11 (NKJV)

"This they said, testing Him, that they may have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with his finger, AS THOUGH HE DIDNOT HEAR THEM. So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her." And again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience went out ... And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst..."

Jesus loved the woman not the act of sin. For example we know Jesus loved her when he restored her dignity. In verse 10 of our text Jesus called her woman not adulterous woman. Jesus said "I do not condemn you". Jesus made her sin of no consequence so that she didn't receive the wages of her sin which is death. Instead she left with eternal life (righteousness) which is the gift of God.

Then Jesus gave her his word (go and sin no more) to keep her from sinning. Jesus's words are more than a mere advise. They are a spiritual support. They are an empowerment to live clean. The word of Jesus kills the appetite and enjoyment of sin. No born again christian enjoys the act of sinning.

Psalm 119:11 (KJV) says:

"Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee."

Psalm 119:105 (KJV) further says:

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

So Jesus's word spoken to her are preserving words over her. By Jesus's words in her heart, she will never repeat the sin. By that same word she will not stumble and fall in her life's journey.

Ezekiel 2:2 (KJV) tells us what happens when we receive the word of God. It says:

"And the SPIRIT ENTERED INTO ME WHEN HE SPAKE UNTO ME, AND SET ME UPON MY FEET, that I heard him that spake unto me.

So when Jesus speaks his spirit enters you and that is how you can stand on your feet.

Also it is his Spirit that helps us mortify the deed of the flesh so we can live free (Romans 8:13). It is this same spirit of love that we walk in so that we do not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Ephesians 5:16).

So we see that the words of Jesus are spirit and life. They are medicine to our flesh and they deal decisively with sin and sickness. His words are more than an advise or an instruction. His word is an empowerment to live the Christian life.

We must esteem his word highly. We must not go back from his word. Stay with the word. Job 23:12 (KJV):

"Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food."

In conclusion, note that Jesus loved the woman not the "adulterous" act. He loves us but hates sin. So he gives her the gift of no condemnation and his word to keep her.

We have received his gift of no condemnation and have also received his preserving words. We can now go and do his word because he empowers us to.

Declaration:

I declare that in Christ Jesus I stand clothed in righteousness, free from all condemnation; His living Word dwells richly in my heart, His Spirit empowers me to stand, to walk in purity, and to live victoriously because I am he, that the Son sets free and I am preserved indeed by His Word and kept by His Spirit.

Righteousness: My gift of no condemnation (Part 2)

John 8: 10-11 (KJV)

"When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more."

First, did you notice that the accusers carried the woman to Jesus themselves? They thought Jesus would take sides with them to kill the woman who sinned. But Jesus is not like that. He doesn't condemn or kill people. Jesus helps us where we struggle. Isaiah 40:29 (NLT) "He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless". Jesus shares his life rather than take lives. So learn this today, that Jesus will never take side with satan over you, irrespective of what happened.

Just like the "adulterous" woman in John 8, let all your accusation and feeling of guilt carry you to Jesus NOT AWAY from Jesus. This is because in the presence of Jesus one thing is sure to happen and that is:

The accusers and their accusations, the guilt and feeling of condemnation it brings would leave you as "Jesus writes on the ground" of your heart. Let Jesus write his love, his peace, his blood, redemption, salvation, forgiveness, paid in full, grace etc on your heart.

What Jesus offers is the gift of righteousness which is the gift of no condemnation. When satan speaks condemnation to you through your thoughts or through others do not give in and get frozen out of doing what God instructed.

In conclusion, John 6:68 (KJV) says:

"Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, TO WHOM SHALL WE GO? thou hast the words of eternal life." There is no where else to go with sin and weakness. There is no other person to go to for help if not Jesus. Jesus's word are eternal life not condemnation. Enjoy your gift of no condemnation.

Declaration:
Knowing you do not take sides with the accuser against me, I boldly declare today that I run to Jesus, not away from Him; in His presence, all guilt dissolves, accusations fall away, and my heart is rewritten with his forgiveness, peace, and redemption.
