Choose the good part (Pt 14)
In Luke 10:34, the Samaritan went to the injured man "and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine."
In this text we see the mind of Christ on how to handle the people He leads us to. God wants us to bandage the wounds of such people not to increase their pain. Speaking about Jesus, Psalm 147:3, says "He heals the brokenhearted and BINDS UP THEIR WOUNDS." This is the mindset to imbibe. So everyone who works for/with Jesus, must promote this mindset. We must approach God's people with the readiness to bind wounds, applying the wine and oil.
Wine is the blood (life) of Jesus and the doctrine of the gospel. When applied to the sinful heart, it causes the distressing guilt of sin to give way to the joy of salvation. The gospel stops sin from spreading so that healing can take place. Just like antiseptic is used to clean wounds, the gospel cleans men (John 15:3).
We must engage people with the gospel. Not just to speak it but it must guide us in our dealings with others. We will be more effective when we speak and act (live) the gospel.
Speak and acting is how true change will happen and renewal of mind will take place for others. Acts 1:1 says "...I told you, Theophilus, about everything Jesus began to DO AND TEACH." Jesus didn't just speak, the gospel was His action. Without doing and saying the gospel, no man will be saved. An unsaved man is unsafe.
Engage people with the gospel today. @all
