One of the most beautiful things about God’s love is that it isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Just like a good parent knows each child needs something different, God meets us personally.

Sometimes he draws us into movement, praise, and outward expression. Other times, he invites us into stillness, silence, and simply receiving.

Worship doesn’t always have to look the same because we don’t always come to God in the same place. Some days our bodies need to remind our souls how to praise. Other days, our hearts need to be quiet enough to be ministered to.

What a gift to be known by a Father who meets us exactly where we are and gives us what we need.

The story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19 reminds us that God often meets us not at the height of our strength, but at the edge of our exhaustion.

Elijah had just witnessed a dramatic victory on Mount Carmel, yet only one chapter later he finds himself depleted, afraid, and ready to give up.

This week’s sermon invited us to notice what happens when fear, fatigue, and discouragement begin to shape how we see ourselves, our circumstances, and even God’s voice.

In Elijah’s story, God does not rush past his exhaustion. He meets him in it, gives him rest, and draws him into a quieter place of listening.

God is not only present in the fire, but also in the whisper. Not only in the dramatic moments, but also in the stillness where we learn to hear Him again.

What if God is already speaking, but our lives have become too crowded to listen?

Jesus often withdrew to quiet places as a way of staying attentive to the Father.

In the same way, solitude and stillness are not just spiritual luxuries for us. They are practices that help create space in us to hear, receive, and follow God’s guidance.

Not everyone is called to be on the frontlines of disaster relief, but all of us are called to compassion.

In this new At The Table Conversation, Pastor Drew Sams sits down with Dan Moore and Brendan O’Leary from to talk about what it means to show up for people in moments of real suffering, not with performance, but with presence.

From the Los Angeles fires to disaster response around the world, they reflect on compassion fatigue, cultural awareness, and the simple but powerful invitation to love, listen, accept, and pray.

As Bel Air Church continues partnering with Operation Blessing through Bel Air Rebuilds, this conversation reminds us that compassion is not just something we feel. It is something we practice, together.

As we continue through our Remember series, we invite you to spend time with this powerful message from Rebecca Morgan recently shared at Fuller Seminary Chapel.

Reflecting on John 21 and Jesus’ invitation to His weary disciples to simply “come and have breakfast,” Rebecca explores what it means to encounter Christ in seasons of exhaustion, uncertainty, and longing.

This message beautifully prepares us for this Sunday’s teaching, Remember the Voice, where Rebecca will guide us through 1 Kings 19 and Elijah’s encounter with God in the “still small voice.”

Together, these messages remind us that God often meets us not in noise or striving, but in attentiveness, quiet trust, and His faithful presence.

Whether you are feeling weary, searching for clarity, or simply longing to slow down and listen again, we encourage you to watch, reflect, and prepare your heart for worship this Sunday.

We’re often tempted to believe that God is only present in dramatic victories or immediate answers, but often God’s deepest work happens slowly, beneath the surface, shaping us through years of struggle, disappointment, and healing.

The invitation of 1 Samuel 7 is to remember “thus far the Lord has helped us”. To look back honestly at our lives and recognize that we were never abandoned, even in seasons when God seemed silent.

If we don’t intentionally remember God, we will unintentionally forget Him.

And that forgetting always leads somewhere.

It leads us to give our hearts to comfort, control, being right, or whatever else we begin to trust more than God.

And yet, even in that drift, the invitation remains: remember the covenant.

God’s faithfulness is not fragile. His promise does not disappear when we wander. He keeps inviting us back to the love, trust, and way of life we were made for.

In our most recent Palms Up Conversation, Jamison Puckett, Jasmine Hemmens, and Jasmine Martinez reflected on the first Palms Up Worship Night and what they experienced as they watched people gather, worship, and respond to God.

They talked about removing performance from worship, learning to be present with God, showing up honestly, and remembering that worship is not about creating the perfect environment. It’s about surrender.

God’s relationship with us is not a fragile contract we can break, but a faithful promise He sustains.

So when we lose our footing, the call is not to strive harder but to return- to remember who God is, who we are, and to step back into the relationship that has been there all along.
