"When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability." - Acts 2:1-4

After earning an economics degree from Tohoku Gakuin University and later graduating from Ochanomizu Art School in 1982, he founded a private art school with his wife, where they continue teaching others the joy of art. Watanabe’s spiritual journey began during college through a home Bible study that led him to commit his life to God and to understand his painting as a form of discipleship and praise.

"Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?" Jesus said to him, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him." - John 14: 5-7

Roman Verostko (1929-2024) was an American artist known for pioneering computer-generated art, using custom-written code and drawing machines to create visual works. Before becoming a digital art pioneer, he studied as a Benedictine monk, and spirituality remained an important influence in his art. His mural “I Am The Way, The Truth, and The Life”(1958–1960) combines Byzantine-style imagery of Christ with modern symbols of science, technology, and the arts, showing Jesus as a guiding light for human knowledge and innovation. The work reflects Verostko’s belief that technological and scientific progress should be guided by moral responsibility, compassion, and the teachings of Christ.

"Generations of Care" by Cece Carpio
*
Cece Carpio tells stories of immigration, ancestry, resistance, and resilience. She documents evolving traditions through combining folkloric forms, bold portraits and natural elements with urban art techniques. From the artist: “This piece...embodies part of my own story in which my mother was abroad taking care of other families while I grew up and being cared for by my great-grandmother who raised four generations of our family. The ritual of hair braiding is an intimate act, a weaving element of passing down traditions of wisdom and care.”
