We covered second half of 1 Corinthians today, from verse 20 to the end of chapter 14.

In this latter part of the chapter, we saw how important prophesying is for the building up and functioning in the church.

Verse 23 tells us that if everyone in the church has a same gift of speaking in tongues, it may seem insane for unlearned in tongues.

However, verse 24 reveals that we all prophesy and our prophesying can convict people more. So unlearned ones will not be confused by speaking in tongues, but rather be convicted and also be encouraged.

This part is very crucial as we see in verse 31, “For you can all prophesy one by one that all may learn and all may be encouraged.”

Prophesying is the way to function in the church. As God encourages all to speak for Him, that the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets, believers in the church.
