The standing committees and bishops exercising jurisdiction have given the required majority of consents to the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles for its Nov. 8 election of the Rev. Antonio José Gallardo Lucena as bishop. His consecration and ordination service is scheduled for July 11.

All in the diocese are invited to attend Oct. 21-24 meet-and-greet sessions with nominees for election as bishop diocesan, with in-person and online options available. Attendees are asked to register in advance here, noting that most sessions are designated for clergy and laity while two are planned

Bishop Search Update: The Transitions Committee has scheduled several meet-and-greet gatherings the week of Oct. 20, when the candidates for bishop will tour the diocese and engage in question-and-answer sessions.

The Bishop Search Committee has announced a slate of three nominees to stand for election as eighth bishop of Los Angeles by Diocesan Convention Nov. 7-8 in Riverside.

Approved by the diocesan Standing Committee on Sept. 10, the nominees are:

The Rev. Dr. Antonio Gallardo, rector of St. Luke’s/San Lucas, Long Beach;
The Rev. Monica Burns Mainwaring, rector of St. Martin in the Fields, Atlanta;
The Rev. Canon Melissa McCarthy, canon to the ordinary of the Diocese of Los Angeles.
