How do we love on Los Angeles? How do we love on the city? We are going to begin asking those questions again and in doing so we are determined to unite and find solutions. HISTORY:
In Feb 2015 TOGETHER LA hosted three days of workshops, networking sessions, inspirational speakers at a city-wide gathering for people who love Los Angeles. Together LA is tracking and resourcing a movement of pastor
s, church leaders and people of faith who love LA. Now and during the conference in 2015, we sought the betterment of our city. More than ten million people live in LA. Each day, they take to the freeways, get on bikes, step onto the Metro and move through, around and into the various communities that make up LA. In the midst of the clamor, the most respected, world-renowned stories are also meticulously crafted—and with them the promise of affluence and significance. But, perhaps this is only what LA projects onto the large and small screens, on the radio and through social media. Those who intimately know our city know the depth of this dynamic city, its challenges, as well as its possibilities. They know that Los Angeles is a gateway to a kaleidoscopic world of cultures—cultures full of promise. Our “City of Angels” possesses both a sense of immeasurable hope and utter brokenness. Right now, pastors and other faith leaders are coming together behind the scenes, with love for this city, to unite people from many walks of life. But that is only a start. We also want to inspire each community to become more than the hero in its own story. We want to connect pastors, churches, ministry leaders, and people of faith to something larger. For the city to truly seek and see peace, a robust weaving of life and community within all parts of the city will be required to create a vibrant tapestry of life where everyone, regardless of identity, social status, family background flourishes and people learn what it means to truly love LA. We want to see communities of faith:
*transforming the conditions of those living on the margins
*living missionally
*developing cross-cultural relationships
The vision doesn’t come without hurdles, but it does come with a pressing reality of what God is already doing to transform communities in LA. A behind-the-scenes force focused on following God’s work, not leading it, could further catalyze the impact of ministry workers and church leaders all over the city.
