On this Lenten journey Dr. Kim R. Harris draws on the witness of Frederick Douglass and biblical imagery of water dirt and rising bones to reflect on faith amid suffering and endurance. By placing the struggles of the past alongside the realities of the present social climate she invites listeners to recognize how histories of fear displacement and resistance continue to echo today. Her preaching reminds us that even in fragile and uncertain moments God’s breath remains at work and these bones will rise again.

LMU Pride Moment: Alumni Spotlight on Real, Meaningful Change

I’m inspired to share this powerful episode of Off Press featuring LMU alumna Linda Dakin‑Grimm (M.A. ’18), who works tirelessly as a pro bono immigration lawyer — especially with separated families and unaccompanied children seeking safety and a home in the U.S.

Her dedication shines a light on what’s truly at stake amid ongoing immigration challenges — and it reminds us of the immense difference one person can make.

Tune in and join me in celebrating an LMU alumna whose values, compassion, and legal expertise reflect what it means to serve with heart and justice.

In Memoriam: Pope Francis (1936–2025)

We join the global community in mourning the passing of Pope Francis, a shepherd whose witness to the Gospel was marked by compassion, courage, and care for creation.

From his encyclical Laudato Si’, calling on us to be stewards of our common home, to Fratelli Tutti, where he urged a renewed commitment to solidarity and fraternity, Pope Francis reminded the world that faith is never indifferent to suffering. He championed the dignity of the poor, refugees, and the forgotten—living out Jesus’ words:
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)

His legacy challenges us to love without borders and advocate with mercy.
May we honor his memory by continuing the work he began.

Please join the LMU community in praying for the repose of his soul:
“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.” (Matthew 25:23)

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.
