This year, I felt a deeper pull to truly pause and reflect on Jesus’ death and resurrection, but with reverence, to really grasp what He has done for us. In Gospel of Matthew 26:38, Jesus says His soul is “sorrowful, even to death,” knowing the crucifixion was near.
It’s a verse we may have read many times, often moving past it quickly. Sometimes we assume, “He’s God..He didn’t really feel emotions as we do.” But Jesus was not only fully God; He was fully man. He experienced the depth of human emotion, the weight, the anguish, the sorrow. What He felt in that moment was real.
And still, He chose the cross.
He was sorrowful to the point of death, yet for the joy set before Him, He endured it. That truth alone should cause our hearts to pause, to overflow with gratitude, humility, and love.
His resurrection is not just a moment in history..it is power. It is life. It is freedom.
May we not limit our celebration to one day a year, but live daily in the reality that He is risen. May our lives bear fruit that testifies He is alive. And may our hearts continually respond in faithful obedience.
