The Palisadian-Post recently featured the 75th anniversary celebration of Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine, which was conducted by SRF President Brother Chidananda.

At the dedication of this sacred sanctuary in 1950, Paramahansa Yogananda shared: “There must be world brotherhood if we are to be able to practice the true art of living. This shrine has been created for all religions so that all may feel the unity of a common faith.”

A special devotional service to celebrate Janmashtami, birthday of Lord Krishna, will be held in the Temple on Friday, September 4, at 7:00 p.m.
It is customary to bring a flower symbolizing devotion, and a monetary offering in gratitude to the SRF line of Gurus and their teachings. Flowers will be available on a donation basis outside the Temple from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Dear friends,

You are warmly invited to join us for our next monthly day of service this Saturday, September 5.

This monthly event is a wonderful opportunity to volunteer at the Hollywood Temple, meet new spiritual friends, and enjoy fellowship in a peaceful environment.

We will meet in the temple at 9 a.m. for a monastic-led prayer and short meditation and then divide into teams to perform needed tasks. We will have another short meditation at 12 noon, followed by a delicious vegetarian lunch. Then finish our service projects and wrap up by 2 p.m.

All are welcome, no experience is necessary.
We hope to see you there!

Each year Self-Realization Fellowship celebrates Janmashtami — the birth anniversary of Bhagavan Krishna, India’s beloved avatar whose teachings are enshrined in the Bhagavad Gita. This joyous annual celebration falls on September 4 this year.

We are happy to announce that Brother Chidananda, president and spiritual head of SRF/YSS, will lead a special Janmashtami commemorative service livestreamed from the SRF International Headquarters on Thursday, September 3, at 6:30 p.m. Pacific Time (Friday, September 4, at 7:00 a.m. Indian Standard Time). This special service will be available for viewing on the SRF website and YouTube channel after it is livestreamed.

On this day in 1942, Paramahansa Yogananda dedicated the SRF temple in Hollywood, California, as a “Church of All Religions.” One of the ideals he set forth for Self-Realization Fellowship is “to point out the one divine highway to which all paths of true religious beliefs eventually lead: the highway of daily, scientific, devotional meditation on God.”
