I recall as a boy of 12 years old, watching Tommy John, on the mound, in the rain of Philadelphia, closing out game 4 and the NL pennant with my Dad. Dad was the sales manager at RC Cola Ventura and the company had season seats. I remember the phone ringing immediately, with store managers wanting World Series tickets. We all idolize Tommy John as all this followed his arm surgery. Rest in peace Tommy John. You brought such great memories to this young Dodger fan.

Please join Pastor Randy in praying for the family of Tommy John, whom has passed away at 83 after an incredible 26-season Major League career that included 288 wins and four All-Star selections.

His impact on the game went far beyond his numbers. After undergoing the groundbreaking elbow reconstruction performed by Dr. Frank Jobe in 1974, John returned to pitch for more than a decade—and the procedure that came to bear his name has since helped save countless pitching careers.

A great pitcher, a baseball pioneer, and a name that will forever be part of the game. 🙏🏻

“I’m in good spirits, I’ve already cold tubbed, done everything I need to do to put myself in a position to be able to hopefully play tomorrow… We’ll just see how I feel tomorrow when I wake up.”

Pastor Randy and youngest son Joey (Director of Meals Ministries) are firmly ensconced in the Top Deck (Section 9) sanctuary for tonight’s ball game. Joey is enjoying a double cheeseburger, chicken strips and fries. Pastor Randy is not. (Grilled chicken breast from Vons) the struggle is real as is the A1C!

“Still can’t believe it was 30 years ago in the City I fell in love with this game, I came back as a National league All-Star and won the game MVP..My parents, brothers and many friends were in attendance, A better moment could not have been written..Amazing, on the 250th Birthday of the USA in the city we declared our independence and where the game is this year..So much to reflect upon.. My heart is filled with Sincere Gratitude and such humility that despite of our imperfections we live in an incredible country that if you have faith, work hard and sacrifice you can achieve pretty much anything.. Dreams do come true..we still see it everyday as things we only dreamed of are happening.
