Bnei Akiva of Los Angeles

Bnei Akiva of Los Angeles Inspiring the next generation through Torah, Avodah & Israel. Bnei Akiva began in Israel and now has snifim (chapters) all around the world.

Bnei Akiva LA connects youth to Israel & Jewish values with camps, shlichim, leadership, and unforgettable programming year-round. Bnei Akiva is the international Religious Zionist Youth Movement that inspires and empowers Jewish youth with a deep commitment to Am Yisrael (our people), Eretz Yisrael (our land), and Torat Yisrael (our Torah). Bnei Akiva provides a wide variety of social and informa

l educational programming that spans the year and all ages, with members continuing from grade school throughout their high school and college years, into parenthood and beyond. Bnei Akiva members strive to live the Bnei Akiva motto of Torah V’Avodah, combining Torah learning and observance of mitzvot with active contributions to the Jewish people. Bnei Akiva generates young leaders who take initiative, who assume responsibility for their community, and who actualize the Bnei Akiva ideal by making Aliyah, emigrating to Israel. Local snifim bring members together for regular Shabbat meetings filled with Torah and Israel, friends and fun. High school madrichim (counselors) take leadership roles, planning and running activities for younger participants, giving generously and growing tremendously in the process. Bnei Akiva has celebrated a rebirth in the Los Angeles community over the past decade. Bnei Akiva of Los Angeles enjoys its successful Shlichut program, bringing experienced Bnei Akiva emissaries from Israel for short-term tours of service in our community. We have a robust calendar of programming which includes our weekly Shabbat SNIF meetings, regular monthly social and educational activities and invigorating Shabbatonim retreats for grade school and high school students. Bnei Akiva of Los Angeles has 4 active snifim (chapters) in Beverly Hills (SNIF Shluchot), Hancock Park (SNIF Saad), North Hollywood (SNIF Tirat Tzvi) and Tarzana (SNIF Lavi). Our programs are attended by over 200 children. Bnei Akiva of Los Angeles welcomes Avi and Dorit Rodan who will serve as our Valley Shlichim. They will be a great resource for Bnei Akiva programming for our schools and Synagogues in the San Fernando Valley. This year Bnei Akiva is also proud to be hosting 10 B’not Sherut Le’umi, young women fulfilling their second year of Israeli national service here in Los Angeles, dedicated to the students of the Maimonides Academy, Harkham Hillel Hebrew Academy, Yeshivat Yavneh, and Mitchabrim. These outstanding young women provide our children with a strong and authentic connection to the State of Israel. Our Banot have formed deep attachments to both the youth and adults in our community and we value their presence immensely. The immeasurable contributions of our Shlichim , along with the B’not Sherut Le’umi, madrichim, generous supporters, and capable volunteers have brought Bnei Akiva of Los Angeles to its full influential potential for the youth of our community.

Honored to serve as Bnei Akiva shlichim, bridging Los Angeles and Eretz Yisrael. Feeling the deep connection, dedication, and vibrant life of Torah on this significant day.

Dan Senor posed a critical question: How can America's Jewish community prepare children with a strong identity tied to Judaism and Israel? The answer lies in two foundational pillars.

Moshava Alevy is more than a camp; it's an educational incubator fostering inclusion, empathy, and growth for campers and adults with special needs. Rooted in Torah and Israel, it offers learning, singing, and dancing. For families impacted by the October 7th war, including orphans, this experience builds powerful connection and demonstrates the resilience and shared responsibility that defines the Jewish people.

As Yom HaZikaron ends in Israel, the mood shifts. The sirens fade, but the remembrance doesn't. Grief and gratitude coexist as we honor those who gave their lives, enabling us to mark this day.

This transition from Yom HaZikaron to Yom Ha'atzmaut honors those who shape Israeli society. Courage, activism, and communal responsibility are the enduring pillars. We recognize community members embodying these values, carrying remembrance forward.
