"The Monks' Daily Reflection"

I have chosen a different way to live,
With a peaceful heart and love to give.
My daily bread is what others share,
I walk with kindness, grace, and care.

Is my mind at peace with the choices I make?
Is my virtue strong for the Dhamma's sake?
Would my wise companions look at me and smile?
Am I walking purely, mile after mile?

Everything changes, loved ones must part,
I keep a steady and peaceful heart.
My actions are my true and only friend,
Good Kamma guides me to the very end.

How am I spending my days and my nights?
Am I seeking the truth and the highest lights?
I find my joy when I sit all alone,
Growing in wisdom that the Buddha has shown. ( Inspired by
Dasadhamma Sutta) Bhante Walpola Piyananda

"The Power of Wise Speech"
If you can speak words that bring no pain to yourself,
And cause no harm to the people around you—
That is truly beautiful speech.
If you can speak words that are kind,
Words that are gentle to hear,
And free from judging the faults of others—
That is truly compassionate speech.
Truth is a sweet and timeless medicine;
The ancient wise ones lived by this truth.
On honesty, goodness, and natural law,
The awakened ones firmly stand.
The words spoken by the Buddha are clear and sure.
They are a safe guide to inner peace,
Bringing an end to all suffering—
This is the ultimate, supreme speech.

" The Mirror Within"
Before you judge another's way, Look at your own life today. The greatest change you'll ever see Begins with who you choose to be.
Not everying is a batts, Grow in wisdom, day by day, And let your actions lead the way.

It's easy to point out someone's mistake, Harder to choose the better path to take. The strongest person is not the one who blames, But the one who rises above the games.
Step by step, with mindful care, Plant seeds of kindness everywhere. Focus on the good you can do, And watch your dreams begin to come true.
Your mind's a garden every day, Choose what flowers there will stay. Pull out anger, fear, and pride, Let compassion be your guide.
Don't waste time on what others do, There's plenty of work inside of you. With every thought both kind and true, a better world begins with you.
The loudest voice is not always right, Nor the brightest screen the truest light. The best Come from how you choose to be.
Speak with kindness, stand up tall, Treat every person with respect and all. Whena your actions match your words, Your message will be clearly heard.

Don't compare your life with another's. Run your own journey at your own pace. The goal is simple, strong, and clear: Be better than you were last year.
Learn from mistakes, don't hold regret, The future's brighter than you've seen yet. With mindful steps along the way, You build a better life each day. (Inspired by Dhammapada verses 50,159,& 379) Bhante Walpola Piyananda

Dharma Vijaya Buddhist Vihara Celebrates a Successful Annual Vesak Festival

Dharma Vijaya Buddhist Vihara joyfully celebrated its Annual Vesak Festival last Saturday, making it a beautiful and memorable success.

Under the guidance of Venerable Dr. Walpola Piyananda Nayaka Thera, the Abbot of Dharma Vijaya Buddhist Vihara, one of the day’s most significant events was the initiation ceremony held in the morning. Few Americans received the Buddhist commitments of Upāsaka, Upāsikā, Dhammacārī, and Bodhicārī, making this one of the temple’s most important annual traditions.

Another highlight of the celebration was the Bhakti Gī (Buddhist Devotional Songs) Program and the Dansala. This year, both children and adults participated enthusiastically, presenting beautiful devotional songs as two groups and creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere.

The success of this event was made possible through the dedication and hard work of the resident monks, volunteers, and devotees. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed their time, effort, and support to make this year’s Vesak celebration a wonderful occasion.

May the blessings of the Triple Gem be with all.
