Celebrating the Dharmachakra or Chökhor Düchen 2026
July 18th 2026 at 10:30 AM

The Fourth day of the Sixth lunar month is the anniversary of the Chökhor Düchen or Dharma Chakra Day. It is the day when Buddha Shakyamuni turned the First Wheel of Dharma on the Four Noble Truths at the Deer Park in Sarnath, Varanasi. This year it falls on July 18th.

It is a very powerful and auspicious day when our merit are multiplied by one hundred thousand times. So please remember to think of the Buddha, Dharma and the Sangha on this day. Make offerings of flowers, incense, light, perfumed water and pray and meditate on the teachings of the Buddha. At the end dedicate the merit for the benefit of all beings.

We will be celebrating this day by performing the Buddha Sadhana and Shower of Blessings Tsok at 10:30 AM. Please join in person or online.

Celebrating the Monkey Month Guru Rinpoche Day 2026

The anniversary of our teacher, the perfectly and completely awakened Buddha Shakyamuni emanating as Guru Padmasambhava is on June 24th this year. It is an important day for Vajrayana practitioners especially for those who have faith and devotion to Guru Rinpoche.

Here at Lhundrup Choling we will practice the Lake Born Vajra Sadhana by Kyabje Düdjom Rinpoche. This is a quintessential practice invoking the blessings of the Guru. Many of us in Los Angeles had the wonderful opportunity to receive the empowerment of this practice from Kyabje Düdjom Yangsi Rinpoche in 2018.

We will begin the practice at 7 PM. Please join if you can.

May the merit from this awaken all beings to state of Buddhahood in general, and particularly pacify immediately all of the negativities in the world; like war, diseases, elemental imbalance, and natural disasters. May all beings enjoy peace and happiness. May the lives of the lineage masters be long and may their awakened activities reach far and wide, illuminating the sacred dharma in the lives of beings. May those teachers who have passed into nirvana emanate swiftly and enact the benefit of Buddha Dharma and sentient beings. May all dharma brothers and sisters be free from the obstacles of their practice. May they have firm and stable cultivation of Bodhicitta. May they traverse through the paths and attain the qualities and realizations of the bhumis. May they bring immense benefit to boundless beings.
