HONESTY AND DECEIT

Unpleasant events and situations
Fill this world.
The reason for this
Is that too many people
Are not honest not sincere.

Know that it is within
Insincere and dishonest minds
That bad seeds are sown,
That seeds of many evils
Are planted, watered and grown.

Much of the turmoil and confusion
That fills the world
Is caused by the words,
All the untrue words, sent forth
In speech through the atmosphere.

The divine teachings of God,

We are holding an exhibition celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Hiroshi Yoshida, amaster of landscape painting who traveled the world.

GRATITUDE AND ITS EXPRESSION

How grateful I am!
God blesses me with good health,
And also grants me
The honor of channeling
The Divine Light to others.

No words, spoken or written,
Can describe the great blessings
God has given me.
How can I give praise enough
For all of this happiness?

I cursed all the world
And blamed others for my difficulties.
Now all the clouds formed
By that attitude are gone
From my mind, and it is clear.

Mokichi Okada composed tanka in a manner akin to how people breathe—thirty-one syllables at a time—exploring themes of light, gratitude, nature, and the ordinary aspects of human existence.

Now, his poems and prayers are compiled into a single collection, accessible on your iPhone and soon on Android devices. The collection will be available in English, Japanese, and will soon be translated into Portuguese and Spanish.
