This week, we were blessed to be assigned YuGeng (Jerry) Yang to be our vicar (student pastor). He is very excited to serve here at Hope in Los Angeles! Tentatively, he will arrive in the first half of August, and we expect his first Sunday at Hope to be on August 16. The vicarage will last for one year.

Please pray for Jerry on his upcoming trip to visit his home of Beijing this summer, and for safe travels on his way to LA in August. We are looking forward to meeting you, Jerry!!

Good Morning!

Yes, life can be pretty complicated. But I also wonder if sometimes we make it more complicated than it needs to be. Actually, let me try that again: I’m absolutely certain that we make life more complicated than it needs to be. Today, we’ll hear Jesus’ invitation, “Come to me.” Simple words - but packed with promise. As we listen to His voice, trust His promises, and apply them to our everyday lives, life doesn’t suddenly become uncomplicated, but Jesus does give us confidence, courage, and contentment in the midst of the complications. Stay tuned as we reflect on and apply Jesus' gracious invitation, “Come to me."

Good Morning!

When a job is done, you leave. That’s pretty standard, and the leaving is merely a formality as you move on to the next thing. On the surface, Jesus’ ascension might seem like just that - a formal ending giving closure to a job well-done. But Jesus’ ascension was more than a goodbye. It set into motion powerful realities that still impact us today. Stay tuned as we reflect on why “It’s Good That He Left.”

Good Morning!

It’s easy to take things for granted when they’ve always been there. I wonder if we sometimes do that with God’s presence. Throughout His Word, the Lord assures us that He is with us, that He will never leave us or forsake us. And that’s not meant to be tucked away into the files of our minds - it’s meant to give us constant peace, confidence, and hope. Stay tuned as we reflect on some of Jesus’ final words to His disciples before He removed His visible presence from this earth, and hear again His promise: You are never alone.

Jesus offers something different. Not a temporary high, but a lasting, deeper kind of life - one that isn’t dependent on circumstances and doesn’t fade over time.
