For my industry family, colleagues, and fellow workers,
As I dive back into organizing more events, alongside my DJing gigs, I find myself receiving numerous work requests, and I genuinely want to assist everyone. Allow me to clarify a few things.
In our entertainment industry, where fun often takes center stage, professionalism and work ethics are sometimes overlooked.
I won't hire a bartender who drinks excessively during work hours. I won't employ security personnel who show up high, lack situational awareness, or display aggression or rudeness toward guests. I won't have a door person who is disrespectful to guests or exhibits any of the aforementioned behaviors. Most importantly, I won't collaborate with djs who don't take their careers or crafts seriously. Even if it's just for a few hours, I'd rather give an opportunity to a new DJ with limited experience. However, if I find you intoxicated or careless during your set, I won't work with you again. (Also be sure to Practice your craft)
We have a fantastic job and are blessed to pursue our passion for a living. For those who work regular jobs, attending events is their moment to unwind from the week. It's our responsibility to entertain them, not to indulge in excesses alongside them. Have fun, but be mindful of boundaries and show respect for the craft and the audience who came to see you, as well as the promoter who booked you.
I couldn't care less about what people do in their personal time outside of work events. We all dabble here and there, and that's not what I'm referring to. It becomes an issue when substances affect your performance in any of these roles.
Rest assured, I would never ask anyone to do something I wouldn't do myself. If you've been to my events, you've probably seen me running around all night, ensuring everything runs smoothly, even if it means changing toilet papers, as I did at the last party.
so the next time you hit me up to work with us for any position, make sure you are ready to treat it like a regular job.
Thank You
Ray
